Thanks for reaching out George and I'd be happy to help you answer any questions you may have. Being on discgolfscene will help you know what is going on and where and will also allow you to track your scores, look up courses and pay to enter tournaments. Technically, tournaments don't really go by a "par" because you are playing the other players in your division. There are two styles of tournament one being a sanctioned event that is ruled and governed by the PDGA and the other is unsanctioned where the rules are made up by the tournament director. This tournament is an actual sanctioned PDGA event so we will be abiding by the PDGA rules and guidelines (usually just means a more fair and well run tournament). If you'd like to get your PDGA membership I recommend checking out www.pdga.com for details. It basically makes you a member and allows you to play in sanctioned events without paying a $10 fee for being a non member. Also, your scores and tournaments will be tracked. If you go to PDGA.com and look up 57740 you will see the history of all my rounds. The "rating" part is what determines the division you can qualify for. There are skill divisions (Pro/Open, Advanced, Intermediate, Recreation) and Age divisions (master, grandmaster, legand etc). The way I would tell you to register for your first tournament is: if you shoot under 54 but above 48 at Rum Village you are probably an advanced player, 52-58 is Intermediate and anything higher would be Recreation. I want to strongly encourage you to play the June 6th tournament at Rum as a way to introduce yourself to the tournament format. The tournament on the 6th us a doubles event and it's unsanctioned so it's a little more laid back. I hope I helped to answer some of your questions, please reply if you have anymore.
