Hello everyone,
Welcome to the7th Annual Otter Creek Ladies and Juniors Open! We are so excited to see this event continue to evolve and come to life. We hope you all are excited for a great day!
This tournament is a Heartland Disc Golf Tournament and all tournament points earned are applicable to the Heartland championship standings for tag holders.
Some key things to know –
We will be taking a group photo at the players meeting. We invite you to be in the photo.
Starting holes are now posted on the PDGA tournament page.
The PDGA digital scoring code is OCLJ7
Round 1 tees off at 10:00am
Lunch will be provided but we likely cannot accommodate dietary restrictions so we would recommend packing a lunch for those with dietary restrictions (there will be vegetarian options but we cannot guarantee availability).
There is no need to purchase a parking pass as that is included in the tournament rental fee.
More details about the event can be found below:
Check-In and Tee Times:
Everyone will need to check-in between 9:00AM and 9:40AM. We will be set up at the table near the tees of holes 1, 5, and 6. We will have a brief player's meeting at 9:40 AM. Round 1 will tee off at 10:00 AM.
There will be a one-hour lunch break between the first and second round, beginning after all Round 1 scores are finalized.
For all divisions except for MJ/FJ 10, MF/FJ 8, MJ/FJ 6 - Round 2 will begin immediately following the lunch break. The official Round 2 tee time will be emailed to all players and posted on the PDGA tournament page.
Payouts:
Projected payouts are posted on the PDGA tournament page.
Pro payouts will be handled by Heartland Disc Golf via PayPal.
AM payouts will be handled by Bang-a-Chain out of Lexington, KY. They will be onsite vending and AMs can redeem their payouts immediately following the round or later online or in-store.
Bathrooms:
There is one portable toilet located on the far side of the parking lot from hole 1’s tee pad. This will be convenient for you to use between holes 1 and 18. Eric & Jessica Jenkins have set a table out beside the portable toilet with supplies if needed.
CTPs & Ace Pool:
There will be 18 Closest to The Pin (CTP) competitions (aka a CTP on every hole). We want to thank Heartland, Melanie Hale, Goodbird Disc Golf Apparel, Bomb Discs, Country Roads Disc Golf Club, Gerstles, Trey & Amber Brazell, Charles Farber, Bob Ball, Laura Morgan-Wise & Flyin Colors Disc Golf for their generous donations to allow us to offer a CTP on every hole! Not everyone is eligible for every CTP though, so please check the list below and the index card before moving the CTP marker. There will be two CTP flags on Hole 8 for Juniors.
There will be an orange flag with an index card on each of these holes. On each CTP hole, whoever gets their first throw (from the tee pad) closest to the basket (aka pin) will move the flag to where their disc landed and write their name on the index card. As everyone plays, if anyone gets their first throw to land closer than where the flag is to the basket, you relocate the flag to that location and write your name on the index card. These CTPs will be active for both rounds, so you will get two tries on each CTP.

The 50/50 Cash CTP and Ace Pool will be paid out via cash.
PDGA Rules Reminders:
Keeping Score:
All players are required to keep score during sanctioned rounds.
We highly recommend downloading the PDGA Live app, or you can go to pdga.com/score. The passcode is OCLJ7. Paper scorecards will be available upon request.
Caddies:
We expect a lot of you will have caddies, as a reminder, they are an extension of you as a player and must abide by all PDGA rules. They are also not able to contribute to rules discussions within the card.
Marking a Lie:
Since this is a sanctioned event, please utilize a mini marker when marking your lie. You can also leave the thrown disc where it lies to mark a lie, but flipping a disc is unfortunately not allowed in sanctioned events.
Casual Relief:
As noted on the Disc Golf Scene page and in the course notes on the PDGA live scoring app, casual relief from thorns is available. This means that if you wish to avoid the thorns around your disc, you may mark a new lie behind the thorns and in line with the basket. This also applies to any areas of standing water and the bridge that comes into play on holes 2 and 4. There may be barbed wire in areas, as a reminder, you do get 2 meters of relief from barbed wire.
Lunch:
Lunch is provided at no charge to all players. There may be leftovers for caddies, but we ask that you do not plan for lunch to be available for caddies. We will have the following available:
- Sandwich Platters
- Chips
- Cookies
- Water
As mentioned above, there will be a few vegetarian offerings, but we cannot guarantee that lunch will be accommodating for those with dietary restrictions so we would recommend players with such restrictions make other arrangements for lunch.
Photos:
We will have a photographer out on the course taking photos of all the players. We will follow up after the tournament with a link so folks can access those pictures. If for some reason you don’t want photos of you to be published, please let us know.
We will also have Mark Arms III doing video recording and post commentating of the lead card in the largest division. Also, you can send Mark videos you take during the rounds. Again, if for some reason you don’t want your images published, please let us know.
