Why not close just holes 22 & 23 like last year? I liked playing holes 20 & 21, didn't think we needed that big of a practice area last year.
there are multiple factors. First, 20 & 22 are the 3rd set of crossing fairways, and it is blind from each tee pad. there are multiple factors. First, 20 & 22 are the 3rd set of crossing fairways, and it is blind from each tee pad. Second, the parking lot holes are hard to play with all the noise, movement and distractions of tournament central in the parking lot. Third, we can have more parking and places to play catch, driving nets, extra practice baskets and holes to drive on - all for warm ups. This is very important because PDGA rules state you are not allowed to practice on the course while the tournament is in play. by eliminating the parking lot holes, they are no longer part of the course, and available to players, instead of no area for warm ups after 8am when the tournament officially starts. we have gone back on forth with different options and formats, but this is the one the works the best for the players, speed of play, and elimating the most dangerous, time consuming crossing fairways.
We didn't play hole 22 last year, I see your points about parking but just sayin that it would have been nice to keep 27 holes. We also have to play with distractions when putting on 27.
