Hello Everyone,

On behalf of Brixx Wood Fired Pizza, Kirsch Lending, the Carolina Disc Golf Club and CO-TD Adam Luthman, I want to congratulate and welcome all of you on your successful registration for the 20th Annual Tar Heel Open! It took a lot of work and compromise to plan and execute the event this year in a manner that would abide by all of the University COVID requirements. We have had to make some concessions in order to hold the event, specifically the total number of people allowed on the course at any given time, no plastic payout (trophy only), social distancing and mask requirements while checking in for tee time and score reporting, and the limit of 4 players per group/ tee time (which does not allow for ANY SPECTATORS OR CADDIES). With this being said, we plan to provide the safest, most enjoyable event experience possible.

On a more positive note, this is our 20th annual event! As we did for our 10th anniversary, we will be providing personalized dry-fit polo shirts to ALL Amateur players as a part of the players packages. Professionals, volunteers and sponsors may also order a shirt on the registration page, and any amateur may also order an additional shirt in the same fashion. Any person may “register” to purchase an additional shirt, using the DGS link below and under the General registration tab, choose the Personalized POLO shirt option.

For clarification, ALL amateurs get one “free" personalized dry-fit polo shirt with their registration as a part of the players pack (details in bold above). Anyone [AM, PRO, volunteer, or club member] may order a shirt (or multiples) using the General registration Personalized Polo shirt option, which will require additional payment. This option does not require you to fully register for the tournament. Unfortunately, there are no options for bulk or batch shirt purchases, as each shirt must be selected and personalized. ALL REGISTRATION EDITS, AMATEUR WITHDRAWALS FOR REFUND, AND SHIRT PURCHASES MUST BE COMPLETED BY MONDAY MAY 3RD!!!

After May 3rd, any amateur withdrawals will still receive their players pack with personalized polo shirt. We apologize for this limitation on full refund dates, but require this in order to provide the elite level custom players package for the event.

Due to a previously overlooked schedule conflict, Registration will open tonight (Tues April 13) at 8:30pm, instead of the the previously scheduled 8pm. This is because of the Greater Raleigh Open DGS registration scheduled for 8pm. We apologize for the ongoing delays in registration, but want to allow players the opportunity to register for both events, and not have to decide which one to prioritize and risk (likely) missing out on the other event.

Due to the overwhelming response and interest, we have decided to open this priority registration period to an additional 5 people with the stipulation that they also register as a hole sponsor for the tournament (each hole is $100 and we will be in touch about sponsorship sign details). If this option is something that interests you, please email me ([email redacted]) and Matt Smith ([email redacted]) and I will provide you with the access code. If you register using the code WITHOUT also contributing as a hole sponsor, we will remove you from the registration list and you will be free to register during the general registration period that opens on Tuesday evening.

I want to be clear that this will be a first come, first serve option for 5 initial hole sponsors (on top of early access for our title sponsors), which will keep us under the 10% cap of reserved registration designated by the PDGA. Hole sponsorships will still be available during general registration, but will no longer guarantee you a registration spot after this initial 48 hour window of priority registration.

Thank you everyone for your tremendous interest in the 2021 Tar Heel! I want to apologize for any confusion and the changes in registration timeline. We just received event approval from University administration last week and Adam and I have been hustling to try to open the doors tonight. Unfortunately, we still had several issues to solve which prevented the opening of registration tonight, and hence the confusion about registration codes, etc. Please stay calm and rest assured that there will be plenty of spots on Tuesday night. So far, only our dear friend and generous Title Sponsor Mike Kirsch (Kirsch Lending) has registered tonight. We look forward to providing you with the safest, highest quality tournament experience yet!
