Hello to all from Rugby Mines.
In terms of our course I have the worst of news that I was given yesterday. The Property Owners Association (POA) has deemed our course a commercial entity which is not allowed. The short version is, we can keep the course, but it cannot be posted about as they consider that advertising, we cannot host any tournaments including the upcoming NADGT qualifier on Sept 8th,, no camping is allowed, only direct friends/family are allowed (Facebook friends do not count per the POA), the August 3rd soft opening cannot occur, and I have to scrub/delete every post that mentions the course across multiple platforms such as Facebook, lnstagram, UDisc, Discgolfscene and other websites.
To say I am a crushed by this turn of events is an understatement. I wanted nothing more than to share my passion for this sport with others by having a course to be played and competed on. Now that dream has been taken.
Per the letter provided by the POA, I have until August 1st to remove the internet presence of Rugby Mines DGC. If anyone has any suggestion on how to do that, other than deleting posts spanning the past 4 years one by one please let me know.
We are looking into any avenues we have to be able to move forward, but we are currently 6 steps behind in a 5 step race. The final outcome does not look like it will be favorable for Rugby Mines DGC. The scope of the POA decision leaves us with very little actionable outs, if any at all.
On the plus side, after getting work done on the course on Saturday and Sunday, there are 18 playable holes. Too bad that accomplishment is being overshadowed by a decision that is out of our control.
I am so sorry that this happened. We were looking forward to hosting this event. Please feel free to comment here or by reaching out to me on my phone or Facebook for all questions you have.
