Hi there,
Thank you for registering for the third annual Disc Golf NL Provincial Championships, hosted this year at the new McNiven DiscGolfPark in St. John’s. Our Provincials Organizing Committee has been working hard to put off a fun event for all participants.
We will be sending a caddy book with layouts and additional information in the week before the tournament, but we wanted to reach out in advance to give some information and give you a point of contact for any questions. If you are relatively new to the sport, there is some material at the bottom to help introduce some aspects of disc golf tournaments. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Most divisions will be playing a mix of the red and blue layouts at McNiven. MPO/FPO and MA1/FA1 will be playing from the blue tees for rounds 1 and 3 and the red tees for round 2. All other divisions except juniors will be playing from the red tees for rounds 1 and 3 and the blue tees for round 2. Juniors will play red tees for both their rounds (Saturday and Sunday morning).
Saturday tee order (early to late):: MPO/FPO, MA1/FA1, MA40/FA40, MA2/FA2, MA3/FA3, Juniors
Sunday tee order (early to late): Juniors, MA3/FA3, MA2/FA2, MA40/FA40, MA1/FA1, MPO/FPO
We will be running a random doubles event on Friday September 27 at 2PM that is open to all, including those not playing in the tournament. It will have a $5 per person buy in ($4 to the winning team, $1 ace pot (to the second place team if no aces)). There’ll also be a trophy for the winning team. No need to register. Just meet at Hole 1 at 2PM. The event will be on UDisc.
We are hosting a Player Party on Friday September 27 at Landwash Brewery (181 Commonwealth Ave, Mount Pearl, NL) starting at 6:30PM. Amateurs will be able to pick up player packs at the player party or at the tournament on Saturday/Sunday. Minors are permitted at the brewery until 8:30PM if accompanied by an adult.
We are expecting a local community group to run a BBQ with hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks for sale. More info to come.
More nitty gritty details below, but if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Take care,
DGNL Provincials Organizing Committee
Johnston Miller, Tournament Director
Ed Hartling, Assistant Tournament Director
Willem Peters, DGNL President
Dan Henderson, DGNL Vice-President
Mitchell Spencer, DGNL At-Large Member

Additional Information:
We recommend downloading the PDGA Live app. It’s the easiest way to keep score and has the rule book built in.
Players can change divisions up to the registration deadline (Thursday September 26 at 8PM NDT). You can also change your shirt size up to September 12th, after which we will be making our order and we may not be able to accommodate changes.
You will be assigned a tee time for round 1, which will be posted here:
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/84512 and also available in the PDGA Live app. Tee times are firm, and there are consequences for being late. Tee times are scheduled to start at 8AM on Saturday and 9AM on Sunday, but we may start a little later depending on registration numbers. Tee times will be posted by the morning of Friday September 27 after registration closes, but may change slightly due to player drops, so please confirm your tee time. Please check in with the tournament director at the course 15 minutes before your tee time.
Disc golf tournaments usually have multiple divisions, including Open (professional) divisions, where players compete for a cash pool, and amateur divisions, where players usually play for prizes and/or pride. Amateurs also typically receive a player pack with their registration. The amateur divisions are separated by skill (MA1 being the highest amateur division) as well as gender (e.g., M divisions are mixed divisions, open to all, F divisions are reserved for women) and age (e.g., MA40/FA40 are reserved for players 40 years and older). Any player is free to register in any division for which they are eligible (e.g., a 15-year-old girl can register in MPO), and if you’d like advice on what division is appropriate for you, please reach out.
