Check-in will begin at 7:45am on Saturday morning at Persimmon Ridge DGC in Greenbrier. ALL PLAYERS MUST CHECK IN THE MORNING OF THE EVENT. Full players' packs will be available for anyone who signed up before the shipping cutoff. Hole assignments will be posted Friday evening to the PDGA event page (
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/65900), so you are free to go straight to your starting hole after checking in. The event is a shotgun start. We will start at 9:00 a.m. That means you should be on your hole and ready to throw at 9:00 a.m.
Media Coverage: We will be taking video of the final round for MA1 lead card for Gatekeeper Media post-production. It would be great to have some locals and fans turn out to support our competitors as they vie for the coveted entry to a future DGPT Silver Event! If you are not fortunate enough to be on that MA1 lead card, feel free to stick around and cheer them on after your round Sunday! (Video coverage will be provided for FA1 lead card if a division forms, so encourage your FA1/FA2 friends to jump in and compete this weekend)
Weather: It is supposed to be very hot and sunny this weekend, so please prepare accordingly! Bring lots of water, sunscreen, and shade. We may consider an extended lunch on Saturday to allow players more time to recover between rounds, if necessary.
Water: Players are encouraged to bring plenty of water for themselves, but water will be available throughout the course.
A-Tier Dress Code: PDGA Dress Code
OB Sheets will be available digitally, but printed copies will be available for each card. They are attached to this email and are loaded into the PDGA digital scorecards.
Scoring: We will use PDGA Live Scoring for the tournament. pdga.com/score. The password is ridge. EVERY CARD MUST KEEP A DIGITAL SCORECARD! DON'T FORGET TO FINALIZE YOUR SCORE ONCE THE ROUND IS OVER! Each card must keep two scorecards, preferably both on PDGA Live Scoring.
Food! (Free to players and caddies)
Breakfast: We will have some granola bars and bananas available for players both days of the event.
Lunch (Saturday): The TDs will be grilling up some burgers and hot dogs with chips for players and caddies. This will be available between rounds for any players who do not want to have to leave the resort.
Players Party on the Porch (5-9pm Saturday): Stick around after your rounds on Saturday to enjoy a beautiful summer evening BBQ on the Porch at Persimmon Ridge. TDs will be cooking some pulled pork, smoked chicken, and sweet potatoes! BYODrinks. The Persimmon Ridge Pro Shop will be open until 7pm, but players are welcome to hang out outside until around 9pm.
Sunday: Since we’ll be rolling off on tee times, we’re going to provide more of a brunch buffet for players to eat at their convenience. We’ll have smoked pork and chicken, as well as other fixings, for breakfast tacos or sandwiches (depending on whether you want breakfast or lunch).
Walk-up Music (Sunday’s Round): Players have the option to select a song to play as they tee off during their final round on Sunday. If you do not choose a song before 7pm on Friday, the TDs may select a song for you at random. Since this is a family-friendly event, please be mindful of the songs you choose. Complete this form to select your walk-up song: Sunday Walkup Music
Playoffs: In the event that multiple players tie for first place in a division, the players will need to play off to determine a winner. Players will play sudden-death stroke play on a loop of Holes 1, 9, and 18. Ties for second place or below will not require a playoff.
Awards and Prizes: Payout will be earned by the top 25% of each division. Division winners will receive a Trophy Pin - Provided by Disc Golf Pins. Winners of qualifying divisions (MA1, MA40, MA50, MA2, FA1, FA2, FA40) with 5+ players will earn an invitation to the National Championships in Austin, TX the first week in November.
Let us know if you have any questions. Look forward to seeing everyone on the course!
