Hello everyone,
It's been a tough week deciding how to proceed. In consulting with Phil, the manager of the Larrimac Golf and Tennis Club, we come to a decision.
The Plaid Jacket is still happening, but not how you think it is. The Plaid Jacket Tournament that you know and love can't happen this year. There will be NO SOCIAL GATHERING OR EVENT this year.
On Plaid Jacket Sunday, what is happening is this, you'll show up to a golf course, and play 2 rounds of golf with 3 other people. The Larrimac Golf Course is open, and it's allowed to have patrons. That's all that's happening. Let me be clear... On Plaid Sunday (Oct 4) you can still play disc golf, you'll have tee-times for 2 rounds and you can still submit your scores digitally. But there is no organized event happening, only golf at designated times, at an open golf course.
Refunds
For this year, under the circumstances, I'm offering 100% refunds on collected funds (minus fees from the system) all the way up to the day of the event. If you want out, no problem. If you have a cold/cough/any other symptoms, please stay home and I'll send you a refund.
COVID Restrictions
- Player's Packs: I'll be attempting to find a safe way to get these to you. I'll keep you posted on this.
- No in-person player's meeting. I'll do a video version and send it on to you. Essentially, it will include everything in here.
- No warm up or throws on the course before your rounds. If you need a warm up, you need to do it before you get to the course.
- No registration table. It's a normal golf course, show up for your tee-times and play your rounds. If you're not on time, unfortunately, you'll have to catch up with your card and you'll miss the holes that you miss.
- You'll know your tee-time by Thursday night.
- No gatherings or hanging out at all in groups bigger than 25 and ALWAYS STAY 2m apart.
- It's advised (by me) that you please wear a mask as much as possible between your car and the 1st tee-pad. During your round, do what you feel comfortable with.
- In between your rounds, there will be a maximum of 25 on break at the same time as you. When you finish round 1, you will get your second Round Tee Time. Please be on time. And please stay 2m apart from others. You may not be worried about COVID, but please respect everyone and their space.
- All scorecards must be submitted to me digitally. Picture of your score or share your uDisc Scorecard. (I will publish all the scorecards later that evening along with all the results)
- Once you finish your round 2 (after you've confirmed your scorecards) you're please asked to leave and go home (this is the part that's no fun, I know, but it's for the best)
- No award ceremony. Everything will be summed and tallied at home. I will post all the results and announce all the winners on here.
- If nobody hits an ACE, the ace pot will carry forward until next year!!
- No caddies, No dogs, and No spectators should be added to that list
- I'm cancelling all hole sponsorships. Money to be refunded.
Course Layout
Course Layout
- Some changes to what was previously announced, in order to keep things more COVID safe:
- No more short grass as a hazard. It's too hard to distinguish the difference in some places and I want to avoid any setup/teardown.
- No more additional holes. We're simply showing up and playing the golf course as is. This is not an event or a gathering.
- We will have a hole-by-hole OB/Hazard descriptions. Greens always OB. Sand is Hazard. Water is OB. Roads are OB (on or over). See hole-by-hole OB rules for help (coming soon). As always, try to decide as a group or play provisional, and send me a message with the details.
- For any new golfers, we'll give you more info about OB and Hazards in the player's meeting (or an update on it's own, soon).
If you have any questions or I've forgotten something, please let me know.
An Ottawa/Gatineau Area Disc Golf Celebration! That's what this is, nothing more, nothing less. Happy throwing!
