EVENT INFO!!!!!!!!!!!
So with Windfest happening at Sims tomorrow starting at 3, there may be some changes to this event. Some holes may not be playable. They have parking ropes set up and some other items (tents, stages, etc.) on the holes near the lake, including holes 1-3 and A-B. I have an idea how to make this work.
Idea 1: Start with Side Games (Distance Toss, Accuracy Toss, Around 9). The Distance Toss will be on hole 17's fairway. The Accuracy Toss will be on Hole 14's fairway. The Around 9 is set up at 17's basket. If we get these out of the way first thing, then we can be sure to get them in before people park and start using the space. After these three side games, a round of 15-20 holes will be played, depending on park/event activity. We can then take a short lunch break, or play through to the Final 9. The Final 9 format will be listed below. After the Final 9, there will be a Ring of Fire on hole 13's basket. If we can finish the Side Games listed by 11:30, I feel like we can play the majority of the course for the first round by starting all groups on the holes there may be issues. If by chance something changes and one group or multiple groups cannot play a hole due to event activity, ALL CARDS WILL HAVE THAT HOLE SCORE ELIMINATED FROM THEIR ROUND!!! This is the only way to keep it fair for all. If my chance an ace is hit on those holes (there will be a $2 ace fund), 1/2 will go to the person hitting an ace, if nobody hits an ace on a hole that all have played during the event. The other half will be decided by CTP after the event if no other aces are hit. After all of that, the Awards Ceremony and prizes will happen.
Idea 2: Start with the first round immediately, followed by the three Side Games mentioned above, and them moving on to the Final 9, with the Ring of Fire after that, and then awards. This may allow us to get more holes played during the first round. The Side Games are set up in areas that should allow for us to do them regardless of the time. If they do need to be relocated, we can figure something else out. But I feel like either Idea 1 or Idea 2 will work best, rather than playing both rounds, and then the Side Games.
Tentative Format:
Round 1 -- as many holes as possible, including 1-18, A and B. There will be alternate tees for the following holes for Round 1:
Hole 2: Hyzer shot over beach
Hole 3: Alternate tee moved up to the path to avoid having the tent that is there in the way
Hole A: From 18's tee pad
Both will be marked with flags and are tentative to the event activities
Regardless, we will be able to play holes 4-17 and 18. That is 15 holes at a minimum. I'd like to include A-B for sure, but we will see how the day goes.
Round 2 (Final 9) -- Holes 5-8, Alternate 9, Alternate 10, 11, Alternate 12, and Alternate 13.
All Alternates will be marked with flags before the event starts and are much shorter and open holes to allow for birdie and ace chances.
For Round 1, we will play as groups of 3 to keep the round moving quickly. I think this is the best route to keep it going. For the Final 9, groups will be 3-4 per card.
Other:
Optional $2 Ace Fund (to be paid out by CTP if none are hit after the event (location to be decided)
CTPs -- 4 per round
Round 1 - Holes 4-7
Round 2 - Holes 5-6,10, and 13
Sorry for all the changes, but I will make this event as awesome as it always is...I promise.
See everyone in the AM!!! #ThrowGyro!!!
