Welcome to the 13th annual Frigid Doe Ice bowl!
This will serve as your players meeting. For any questions see Nacho at the pavilion.
This is a PDGA C-tier event, all PDGA rules are in effect. Everyone will be playing one round on Deerfield Longs and one round on Wildwood shorts. On the Deerfield course hole 5 will be played from the super short tee, which is slightly in the woods to the right of the fairway at the bottom of the hill, and hole 9 will be played from the short pad. Do we need to take glow tape off our discs? Thanks!

I don't think so, since we're playing in the snow.

Shelby Mitchell    January 14 at 9:55pm

Are we doing alternate on Deerfield hole 5? Plus Deerfield long 9 had an orange bag over the teebox/orange paint telling people to play 9 short. What's up with that?

Correct, Deerfield 5 will be played from the super short pad (bottom of the hill, tucked into the right) to avoid sledders, and Deerfield long 9 has a sketchy tee pad, so we will be playing the short pad.

Craig Clingan   January 14 at 10:08pm

Yes, DF5 will be played from the "Snow 5" location. There are flags and painted info on the snow to direct everyone to the correct location. This is for safety for anyone using the sledding hill. DF9 is being played from the short pad. The long pad is very smooth and slippery, so we've move to the short pad for player safety. This was discussed in similar comments below.

I mean, ditto from what Nacho said! :)

When does the 2nd round start? I want to know if I have enough time to get lunch or not...

Congratulations on being the first to ask me this year, please see me for your prize…. Lol, one hour after the last card comes in.

Steve Swart   January 15 at 5:05pm

Where should I park to be close to the chairlift?

David LaPorte    January 12 at 9:27pm

Snow about the same as last year?

Scott I had the same concern and flashback to past years. IF someone from the area can post about conditions that would help us traveling from outside the area prep appropriately. Thank you !

Benjamin Grohs   January 14 at 5:20pm

I was out this morning, some of the hills are icy. My guess with temp. drop you can expect ice in spots.

Craig Clingan   January 14 at 10:12pm

I plan to pull my cart, if that helps. After the melt we had this week, there's probably 2-4" of snow where no man has gone before (don't go there). The actual fairways are pretty well packed and there may be a few slick spots, but really no icy areas to speak of. Wildwood 18 is pretty well frozen, while the ice on DF13/14 is questionable since it was open water just days ago.

We will be having a big raffle for many prizes! Tickets will be $5 each. Huge thank you to Jacob at DISCBARON for donating a zuca cart, and 2 dynamic backpack bags to the raffle!

If we get another Jason in MA40, could they be on the same card? Not confusing or anything.

This is against the PDGA Compeition Manual Section 4.01.

Adam Geise   January 14 at 4:31pm

4.01.1203 subsection 3J: No more than 3 Jasons on a card.

Haha

How’s the weather been up there lately? Anyone know how much snow is currently out on the courses? Just curious

Craig Clingan   January 7 at 4:01pm

It's been winter-like, for sure. There's 3-4" fresh powder on top of another inch of base, so not too bad. It's currently 9 degrees.

Carter Whitney   January 7 at 4:19pm

Got it, thanks for the report! Last year was nice because there was basically no fresh powder. It was pretty hard out there. Was hoping for the same this year but it seems unlikely.

Brent Faubert    January 5 at 1:58am

Just a quick question, are we playing modified 5, Short 5, or Long 5 on DF? I know what it says just know the sledding hill has changed format before

What is “Snow 5”? does that mean from the short pad?

John "NACHO" Norkowski   January 7 at 8:18pm

Even shorter, it will be on the right side of the hole, tucked into the woods to keep sledders out of danger

Craig Clingan   January 7 at 9:13pm

There's a path (soon to be marked by flags) about halfway down DF4 to the right that will take you to the "pad".

Steve Swart    December 4 at 2:06pm

Let’s all get out there and show them where that feral kitty dwells………………………
