About this tournament
2 rounds of play
We are thrilled to bring back the Zambia Open in 2024! Please read below if you plan to join us for this unique event! All are welcome to come join us!
THE TOURNAMENT: It will be a one day C-Tier event, but we are going to have a great time! Lunch is included for all competitors, and Amateurs will get a shirt with entry. Amateur divisions will be playing for trophies while the Professional divisions will play for cash. Eagles Wings Disc Golf will match each professional entry fee to add to the total payout.
JUNIOR EVENT: On Friday the local juniors will compete for the opportunity to play in the Zambia Open. The top scorers will receive entries into the main event.
THE COURSE: In 2019 the course in Macha was expanded to a very fun 18 hole layout and in 2020, new and improved baskets were placed on the course in Macha. In 2022, a new course in Lupata was designed and installed. Participants will play one round in Macha and one round in Lupata.
LODGING AND FOOD: Upon arrival to Livingstone or Lusaka, you will make the trip by bus/taxi to the rural community of Macha, where the tournament will be held. Macha, Zambia is a small rural + remote town with a hospital, primary and secondary schools, churches, a research facility, and a community full of hard working, kind-hearted, and hospitable people. Lodging will be in a dorm style set up and will house everyone who comes in for the disc golf trip. The dorms have both electricity and running water. All meals will be prepared for you-mostly American style food but there will also be opportunities to enjoy local Zambian food as well. As you can tell this is not your typical disc golf experience!
Please be sure to indicate your need for housing during registration and we will reach out with more details.
We can also give you information about how to visit Victoria Falls or go on a Safari!
ZAMBIA FUNDRAISER SERIES: Thank you to all TDs and participants in the United States who have help support this event. The money raised through sponsorship and the fundraiser events will go towards the additional nine holes at Lupata, sustaining disc golf in Zambia for years to come, and of course funding this event!
