About this tournament
2 rounds of play
Registration is now open to all divisions until 9 pm on May 14th!
The WGE 2026 – Southern Spring Fling Presented by Throw Coast is a one-day, PDGA-sanctioned C-Tier tournament taking place at Castle Hayne Disc Golf Course in Castle Hayne, NC. This tournament is part of the PDGA Women’s Global Event, but at its core, this is a local event built to create a welcoming, supportive space for women and girls to step into tournament play. It is also a great tournament for all players, women, men, and youth to enjoy!
This tournament is run and hosted by women, with a focus on making disc golf competition feel approachable — whether it’s your first tournament or you’ve been playing for years.
What This Event Is About
Disc golf tournaments can feel intimidating, especially for newer players. This event is designed to change that, with tournament directors and staff here to support your first time playing a PDGA tournament.
You’ll be competing within your division, but sharing the course with a full field of players — creating a more relaxed, real-world tournament environment where you can learn, compete, and build confidence at your own pace.
If you’ve been thinking about playing a tournament but weren’t sure where to start, this is a great place to do it.
And if you’re on the fence, bring a friend with you. Whether they’re playing or just hanging out, having someone there makes the day even better.
Women’s Global Event (WGE)- Info for Women / Girls
The Women’s Global Event takes place across multiple days in May, with events happening around the world. Our event on May 16 is part of that global field.
Scores from the first two rounds will be included in the Women’s Global Event results, connecting women players across locations while they still compete locally.
PDGA membership is not required for all female divisions.
A Note for New Players
If this is your first tournament, you’re in the right place. You don’t need to know everything. You don’t need to be “good enough.” You just need to show up, play your game, and be open to the experience. There will be plenty of players out there learning, competing, and figuring it out right alongside you.
Choosing your division - For new players, we recommend FA3 or FA4 for women, or MA3 for men. You can also choose an age-protected division if you are within the minimum age for that division. For example, a 43-year-old woman can play in FA40 (female amateur 40 to 49-year-olds), but cannot play in FA50. If you need any help choosing the right division to play in, just reach out to [email redacted], and we will help you choose.
Tournament Format
- PDGA C-Tier - Saturday, May 16, 2026
- Two rounds (same layout for both rounds)
- FP0, MPO, MP40, MP50, and MA1 divisions play the long tees to blue baskets in both rounds
- All other divisions will play the short tees to blue baskets in both rounds
- Junior divisions (12 & under) will play 1-round only (morning) from the short tees to blue baskets
- One-hour lunch break between rounds
Because this is a Women’s Global Event, you may see mixed cards (men and women) during play. You will still compete within your division — this simply helps support ratings and tournament flow.
