About this tournament
1 round of play
This event is at BIG MARLBOROUGH, not Forest Lawn
Have you ever wanted to try disc golf but you felt intimidated/nervous/shy?
This is an event for you!
The goal of this event is to provide an intentional, supportive environment to learn the ropes of disc golf in a fun and friendly setting.
Statistically, disc golf skews towards players who identify as male, but we want to open the doors to everyone. This event is open to anyone who's interested - regardless of age, sexual orientation, race, religion, sex, gender identity, disability status, socioeconomic background, or any other aspect of identity or experience. All are welcome here, and we're committed to creating a safe, supportive space.
What to expect:
1) Name tag crafting/decorating: so you can display your name and pronouns
2) Ice breakers: to get to know one another and foster community
3) Beginner lesson: covering the basics like grip, stance, and basic throws
4) Guided round of disc golf: Led by a community volunteer
5) Prizes: donated by local businesses to be awarded at the end
Logistics and accessibility:
- Discs will be available to sign out for use during the event
- On-site vendor: if you fall in love with the sport, JK Discs will be available with a selection to purchase
- Course terrain: mostly flat, shorter holes (some uneven terrain and small hills). Ideal for newer players. Please note it's in a mixed-use public park and there may be other park users as well as on or off leash dogs utilizing the space
- Facilities: We will be using the Marlborough Park Community Association at the start of the event, where there will be access to washrooms. There are no washrooms on the course as well as no drinking water so please plan accordingly.
- And payers under 13 must be accompanied by a parent of guardian
We look forward to playing with you soon!
