Welcome to The Fight Round 6
My name is Noel Duke. In 2017 My family was changed forever when we lost our middle son to a fentanyl laced heroin overdose. Dylan was a healthy 26-year-old young man. The fact that he was taken away for such a needless reason still hurts more than words can say. As a family we wanted to do anything we could to raise awareness to the fact that so many people are dying over this true epidemic. In 2017 Charles County, MD alone saw 39 people die of heroin/fentanyl related overdoses. Can you believe that in our country more than a million people have died since 1999 from Heroin related overdoses? One of the biggest issues here is the lack of awareness our community has related to this epidemic.
As a family, we were trying so hard to push through the dark times after Dylan's passing. Our youngest son (Jesse) suggested we have a disc golf tournament to raise awareness, and monetary funds to support our nonprofit partners. Jesse said we need to call it The Fight, because that's what it is, It's The Fight he shouted. The Fight began in 2018 and was ran through the Southern Maryland Disc Golf Association the first 5 years. To have the club stand with us was a true blessing. Their support will never be forgotten. Because of the players who played the tournament, the hole sponsors, the corporate and title sponsors, I am proud to say that The Fight has raised over $10,400.00 in its first 5 years. This money always gets donated to a charity that is directly involved with helping people. Grass root organizations with concerned people giving their time and love to help others. This year we are more than excited to partner with The Druid Hill Disc Golf Club for The Fight Round 6. Baltimore is one of the most affected cities in America. We have a chance to make a real difference together. This year’s charity will be the Powell Recovery Center. They are a nonprofit who offers a wide range of services to anyone seeking recovery, all free of charge. https://www.prcinc.org/
Thank you for your continued generous support over the years and we look forward to seeing you at The Fight Round 6
