UPDATE EMAIL JAN 13

Approximate teetimes have been posted on the About page in discgolfscene. Running teetimes with singles in the morning and team play in the afternoon has it’s challenges in terms of the amount of time between rounds, especially when we are filling the times around our event with public play. I am estimating the playing time for singles to be up to 140 minutes which means the break for lunch will range from as little as 30 minutes for a few people to an hour and a half depending on your starting time in singles and where your team will be placed for the team play. Please plan for a very quick turnaround time and if you have more time, then enjoy the relaxation in the sun. I will attempt to have the individual teetimes posted by Thursday night

We will be using the Udisc App to keep score. If you do not have an account set up, please do so before arriving at the event. The free version of the app will work just fine.

Check in at the tournament desk when you arrive and be at hole 1 ready to go 5 minutes before your teetime to meet your card mates and get any last-minute instructions.

Please not the holes with the extra side games; ctps, closest to centre of fairway (#1), and the hole-in-one challenge (hole #10) for $500 (shared between those who get an ace on the hole. In addition, the first two people to get an ace on the weekend will receive an MVP practice basket courtesy of Ryan Penner of ReMax Realty.

Rare Discs will be onsite with a small pop-up shop for a good part of the weekend so check out the selection of discs. We will also have a few extra Collegiate Series discs for sale after the singles round.

This event is an inclusive fun event for established Collegiate programs and for those who might be playing in their first high school or collegiate event with a team or as an individual. Given this focus, rather than having prizes for the top finishers, funds will go to the Collegiate teams that will be traveling to Nationals in South Carolina to help offset costs, and to the BC Juniors Disc Golf Championships to help make that event amazing.

If you have not played the four person collegiate team format before, it is basically alt-shot and best-shot doubles combined. I think this explains it pretty well:
o Teams of four are split into two pairs (Odd & Even).
o The Odd pair tees off on holes 1, 3, 5, etc., while the Even pair tees off on holes 2, 4, 6, etc..
o After tee shots, the team chooses the best lie, and the other pair (the one that didn't tee) throws their two shots from that spot.
o This alternates until the hole is finished, ensuring everyone plays as a team and tees off equally.

We have a couple teams that have been assembled from players from different schools. Here they are:
High School Category:
Team Hamber/Semi/Heritage

Collegiate Division:
Team UBC/WWU

We also have a team, that is assembled from one HS player, two collegiate players, and a gap year player so that we had a perfect number of teams to work with.

I’m probably missing a few things but that’s good for now.

We’ll see you all on Saturday.
