About this tournament
1 round of play
Welcome to the first event put on by Hallux Disc Golf for 2025! Get ready for a fun time with friends and fellow disc golfers as we endure the early-year chill and play a modified ace run layout at the private Soaring Acres course located in Kennedy, NY.
Participants will receive a player's pack consisting of 1 premium plastic disc (midrange or putter), choosing from a variety of molds and manufacturers as well as a holographic Hallux sticker. Using just their chosen player's pack disc, competitors will run the gauntlet of 72 holes, playing from marked tee positions until finished.
Note: In the event that a player happens to lose their player pack disc during the course of play they may swap in one of their personal discs to resume competition. In the spirit of good sportsmanship, players are discouraged from intentionally losing their player pack disc. Players suspected of seeking to gain an unfair advantage in this manner and/or by other means will forfeit prize winnings at the discretion of the TD. Have fun, play fairly.
Layout Footages:
(A) Red Flags/ (B) Blue Flags
Hole 1--160'/120'
Hole 2--150'/100'
Hole 3--135'/160'
Hole 4--150'/160'
Hole 5--145'/125'
Hole 6--130'/150'
Hole 7--150'/155'
Hole 8--200'/195'
Hole 9--195'/165'
Hole 10--135'/110'
Hole 11--130'/95'
Hole 12--125'/105'
Hole 13--175'/100'
Hole 14--195'/130'
Hole 15--185'/155'
Hole 16--190'/140'
Hole 17--180'/140'
Hole 18--200'/160'
Average: ~150'
Note: there will be 2 tee positions (an A & B) for each of the 18 baskets. Cards will play through all holes on the A layout, followed by all on B, and then repeat through both of those layouts in that order once more. We've got a lot of golf to play for the day, so please do try to maintain a steady pace.
Play on each hole will consist (following shotgun start) of all players together on a card taking a turn each throwing ONE shot off the tee at the basket, then recording their score for that hole based upon the result:
1 point for hitting metal,
2 points for striking chains, or
3 points for nailing the basket and sticking it for the ace.
The highest cumulative scores through all 72 holes will win.
Placement Prizes will be either a Discraft Lite Basket (1st place) followed by Hallux Disc Golf vouchers to be used for the on-site pro shop.
(all ties will be resolved by evaluating scorecard to determine most aces; if still tied, then most chain hits, followed by metal hits--if need be we will figure out a means of sudden death play to determine final standings)
Following the conclusion of play, we will do a cash CTP throw off. If you signed up for the tournament, you're in. Afterward, feel free to stick around briefly for awards, check out the on-site selection of Hallux inventory, and grab a few snacks for the road.
Bringing your own towel(s) is highly encouraged and I'll aim to have a few available for use day of the event, but please do try to bring your own. Dress warm/dry as weather requires--no doubt this time of year it'll be a cold day! I'll have bottled water available as well as some snacks for players. I'm also planning to have a make-your-own-hot cocoa station set up so people can grab something as they pass between layouts.
One of the main goals of this event is to create an inviting place of engagement for disc golfers of varying degrees of skill and walks of life to come together and share in the sport we all enjoy. To that end, encourage your friends to come join and watch some discs fly!
Thank you for taking some time out of your day to check out this tournament. If you have any questions at all, feel free to post in the comment section here or reach out to me (Drew) directly via email at [email redacted]. Thanks, and hope to see you there!
