On Saturday, August 29, Sleder's Tavern and allied community members working to preserve and improve Hickory Hills will join together to raise funds toward a 1.5 million-dollar matching grant from the Brown Bridge Trust Fund. It is extremely important that we invest in Hickory Hills to keep it open and thriving for future generations of Traverse City families, as it was for so many of us. The day will begin with a 5K/10K run, ending back at Sleder's for a pancake breakfast. There will be an 18-hole golf tournament at Bay Meadows, and a disc golf tournament at Hickory Hills. An awards ceremony for all events at 4:00pm will kick off our evening party under the tent at Sleder’s, complete with live music, food, beverages, and raffles. A silent auction will accept bids throughout the night, featuring gifts from our generous community donors. We have such a good chance of making a large impact on saving a wonderful city park. We’re now recruiting teams, hole sponsors, silent auction donations and volunteers for set up/tear down and to work the evening portion of the event. In addition, we are seeking sponsors to pledge support for this important fundraiser.
