After 5 years without Disc Golf at Rycenga Park we have been given the opportunity for a ONE time event! Lakeshore Disc Golf Club (A.K.A The Rat Pack) has been working with Spring Lake Township officials to coordinate a reunion tournament at our old stomping grounds. They have agreed to allow us one day to set up baskets on the property where the old course was. This allowance of time and space comes with high hopes of success on our part. This opportunity is not only a chance to have a throwback event but also a chance to wipe away some of the smudge that was left on our presence as a community of disc golfers. With the way the course was removed due to vandalism of the park the blame was easily set on disc golf and the people who love it. Now we have a chance to come back as a group and show not only the township officials but the local community that the problem did not result from our presence. So for one day we will bring the true presence of our disc golf family back to the park and we will leave the locals with a different view of who and what we are and what our sport means to us!
The weekend we chose also has some underlying meaning that most of you will understand! March 26th is Brian "Mitch" Mitchells Birthday! So while we throw a couple of rounds on our old stomping ground we will also be throwing in remembrance of the Rycenga Park Legend himself, "Ace Mitch Mitchell ".
This will be our spring fundraiser event to further grow and develop the property we are still occupying at Lakeshore Disc Golf Complex! We are thankful for the opportunity to still represent disc golf in the Spring Lake area!
As normal we are a community of people that love to give back! Lets incorporate some Goofball Food drive spirit and make this event really make an impact! We will take ANY and ALL Non perishable food items as a donation! If it is in your means to donate please do what is possible to bring non perishable food to donate!
