About this tournament
1 round of play
Some things are made to fly....Groundhogs were not one of them!
In anticipation of the brand-new mold from our friends at Elevation, we are giving you an opportunity to not only give this new disc a try but to earn the title of the best groundhog thrower in the land!
This will be a 1-round event at Valley Park on May 25th, 2026 (Memorial Day) and will start at 3:00pm. We will be playing the Beginners layout.
Valley Park Beginners Layout is Valley Shorts with the addition of DZ on 1, 2, 7, 12, 14 and 18. Should be very small opportunity to lose your disc
THIS IS A ONE DISC CHALLENGE. You only use the players pack disc you are provided.
Each participant will receive 1 on the brand-new Groundhogs from Elevation Discs. More details below about the disc and the flight characteristics. These were 100% SOLD OUT by Elevation on the day they released (May 14th) so this may be the only chance to get your hands on one with this incredible stamp!
Prizes will be awarded for 1st Place in each division, and we plan for some CTP opportunities. Ace Pot is included and is a $50 gift card to Maddog Disc Shop!
The shop is closed on Memorial Day, but we plan to be open for an hour following the event.
Scoring will be kept live on U-Disc for this event and will be a shotgun start with assigned holes.
UPDATEWe received 20 OG Plastic and 25 EcoFlex discs from Elevation. We have a mix of the colorways as well. IF COLOR and FLEX matter to you, please be at check-in early to secure the disc you want
More about the GROUNDHOG from the team at Elevation
The Groundhog is the all-new approach mold from Elevation, and I will let this graphic do some of the talking. Yes, you read that right, while gyro is all the rage right now, we have made a disc with ANTI-GYRO. Opposite of Discmania's Q-line, I added material thickness to only the center of the flight plate (2.75mm) and left the edge of the flight plate comparably thin to Q-Line, as all our rubber molds are (1.45mm). This removes gyroscopic stability, meaning this disc will feel like it falls out of the sky about 3/4 of the way through the flight!
Also, with the popularity of other 1 speed 1 glide discs, I always felt the biggest issue was that they felt funny in the hand with how tall and deep they were. Well, we fixed that by making the disc only 1.7cm tall (compared to the similar flight berg at 2cm), and 1.3cm deep (compared to the berg at 1.4cm).
It is a definitively overstable flyer on forehand and backhand and always made out of our special hit and stick materials meaning you can give the basket a run unlike ever before!
Personally, this might be my most useful and game changing mold, already garnering me 2 throw ins in 2 weeks (and I'm not normally good at throw ins). I have let folks at our local league try it, some who are die hard berg/range fans, and some who don't throw Elevation, and both told me they needed one as soon as they could get one. So, I hope this will be a great disc for you :)
