DIVISIONS / DATES:

Everyone is playing two rounds on Saturday, July 17th on a shotgun start. Round one hole assignments will be posted here before I go to bed tonight.

LATE WITHDRAWAL / NO-SHOW

At this point, it is too late to receive a refund. However, if you notify me at 785-764-2229 prior to tee time, you will still receive your player pack for an Am, and for the Pros I’ll mail you a towel. It’s not required, but I appreciate the heads up. No call, no show forfeits your player pack and entry fee.

To cancel, text or call your name and division, with comment you are cancelling to 785-764-2229.

PARKING -
Please do not park along any of the fairways as sometimes players like to throw over the out-of-bounds lines. There is additional parking across the street.

RESTROOMS

The pool restrooms should be open. I have requested the restrooms near the baseball diamonds to be opened as well.

CHECK-IN

Check-in is from 8am - 8:45 am at the shelter between Hole 1 and the pool. All players, Pro and Am, need to check in. If you don’t check in, I will presume you are a No Call, No Show and you may be scratched from the event.


SCORING

We will be using the PDGA digital scoring system. (This is not Udisc). To access it, go to pdga.com/score. Enter in the password, then your last name or PDGA number, and the card will pull up. I will have paper scorecards as a backup. You can also use udisc as a backup. However, to submit the scores, it needs to be done through the PDGA scoring system.

COURSE CONDITIONS

Chase County received a lot of rain starting Wednesday night. I’ve been carefully watching precipitation totals and river levels and believe we will be in the clear to play the whole normal course. This evening I will be personally inspecting the wooded holes to make sure they are safe. If they are not, we will then play some temporary holes in place of the wooded holes.

AMATEUR PLAYER PACKS

All players, Pro and Am will receive your choice of either a GRIPeq or Maverick DG towel.

Additionally, Amateur players will also receive a tournament stamped Discraft disc.

We have Discraft ESP Buzzz, Heat, Undertaker and Z Force, Nuke and Zone. You can find descriptions of the discs here:

WATER

While there will be water coolers on the course I fully expect they will go dry at some point. They will be refilled as soon as possible, but you need to be prepared to bring enough water for yourself. The water on the course is a back-up.


ROUND PRIZES

There are prizes for both Round 1 and Round 2.

Round 1 - If you have the Hot Round (lowest score) for your whole DIVISION, there is a Hot Round mini. You may say it’s only a mini, but the only way you can get one is by having the hot round. It’s a pride thing. (Fine Print - must have 2 people in the division to have a Hot Round. If there is a tie, a judgement call will be made to either award all ties a mini if the division is large, the first hole that was won - i.e. skins - will be awarded if the division is small.)

Round 2 - Win your card, win a prize is BACK! If you win your card, make sure you see Rob to get a prize from the WHITE TOY BOX.

IF YOU NEED TO WITHDRAW

If you decide for any reason that you don’t or can’t play the second round, please tell Rob, the Tournament Director. This is crucial as it will affect others on how the second round is organized.

LUNCH BREAK / ROUND 2

We will have an approximately 1 hour lunch break after the last card is completed before starting round 2. You likely will NOT start on the same hole or with the same players, so make sure you check the pdga event page to find your starting hole.

ACE / CTP FUND

If you paid into the ace fund during registration you are included in this. If you didn’t, you can sign up when you check in if you want to. If neither applies, skip to next section.

Thank you for participating into the Ace Fund. With all Maverick DG events, the Ace fund is paid out as large ticket items and not as cash. This is one of the ways MavDG is ‘maverick’ and it helps to pay for tournament expenses. I determine the payout items so that what is given out is higher than what was paid in so both the winner and the tournament benefits.

PRIZES:
We will have 3 GRIPeq G-series bags. If we get a significant influx of additional payers into the fund we will add some product vouchers.

Please note: If there is a tie for first place in your division, we may start the CTP game before your playoff is done. I realize that this policy has changed in the past and I’m trying to be consistent with it. If you super duper rather play the CTP game than for the First Place Trophy, you can always forfeit the playoff. I would ask you though - why are you playing in a tournament if not to win the prize of First Place?

AWARDS / PAYOUTS

To decrease the amount of congregation we probably will not have a formal awards ceremony. I will give the award as soon as the clear winner is determined after the second round. PRO PAYOUTS can be either a check picked up the same day, a check mailed to you, or PayPal Goods and Services (winner pays fees) based on what you chose during registration. AM PAYOUTS can either be the same day with inventory I have on-hand, or you can receive a Gift Card code to redeem via my webstore maverickdiscgolf.com. If you choose the webstore, it will charge you sales tax and shipping. I do have some items in my tournament bins that are not available online, and I have some stuff online that is not available in my tournament bins.

My goal is to have the 'official' results posted to the PDGA by Sunday evening, 7/18, otherwise they will be done Monday evening.

Please be patient with me in the morning. Normally I print out hard copies of the registrants but left it at home and will be using my Mac to check people in which will be the first time for me.

WE WILL HAVE A PLAYER'S MEETING AT 8:45

We are planning on playing in the woods unless it rains tonight which is less than a 10% chance.

I ended up using more paint this evening than planned. I forgot that in some areas of the gravel, the grass / gravel line is pretty mushy. In some places I used a dash line to save paint. If this line comes into play regarding an in or out decision, connect the two lines to determine the OB. If you still can't tell if it is in or out, it's in because the benefit goes to the player.

Casual water that are puddles, you are allowed to play from BEHIND the puddle that is farther away from the basket without penalty.

FOR HOLES 5 & 6 THAT HAVE DROP ZONES:

You are allowed to proceed directly to the drop zone and shoot for a '3'. The reasoning is that both of these holes have small windows to hit, with water carries. A player could simple purposefully throw their disc into the water OB and then go to the Drop Zone. To save you a disc, and time looking for a disc, we'll let just go straight to the drop zone with 2 throws already counted (1 throw into the water, 1 throw penalty for going OB)

RESTROOMS

I did confirm with a city official that at least one set of restrooms will be open. If they run out of toilet paper let me know and I'll go buy more.

SCORING / SCORE CARDS

The online scorecard is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as it will help me to process scores faster and then assign hole assignments after Round 1 for Round 2 and after Round 2 for payouts. However, they are not required.

I'm viewing closely the weather including the NOAA website which provides detailed information of river levels, etc. I do think we will be OK. My plan is for now to head to Cottonwood Falls after work Friday to get a first hand view of the course conditions. At that time, if the wooded holes are sketchy we will play a modified layout of bonus holes that don't include the woods. If it looks fine, we'll play as is.

Would anyone be willing and able to paint some OB lines for me at Swope Park / CWF? I was not planning on painting the roads like I have done in the past, but would like the cliff edges along Holes 6 ... show more ›

Would anyone be willing and able to paint some OB lines for me at Swope Park / CWF? I was not planning on painting the roads like I have done in the past, but would like the cliff edges along Holes 6 & 12 painted. You will want a marking paint wand, it's a bummer to do it without one. Send me a message if you would do that.

rented lodging for the night before the tournament. Is there a minimum number the tournament needs to get to so that it is not canceled? If there is a possibility it could be canceled I need to cancel my lodging. Really hoping that will not be the case. Thank you!
