About this tournament

Welcome to the 2023 King Rotary Classic Space Race! This will be our 2nd annual tournament at this course in this particular format. I'd also like to extend a big thank you to all the players and volunteers that came to join us at last years event and we hope to see both new and returning faces again this year! The King Rotary Satellite Club will host this event at the same 9-hole disc golf course located within Recreation Acres in the city of King, NC. This is also a fundraising event for our club so please come out and support us!

There will be 2 all new discs to use in the tournament this year, each of which will be in the new Total Eclipse plastic, or Eclipse 2.0. This plastic is an updated version of the Eclipse plastic. Eclipse Glow plastic has an awesome feel in the hand, fairly smooth and reflective, yet grippy. It is a stiffer plastic, and is the most overstable that MVP produces. Also, the new style of plastic will introduce glow color rims as well as glowing cores to produce some truly astounding glow combinations! This is the Number 1 Glow in all of disc golf, as it stays charged and shines brighter than anything else on the market!

For this event, your $40 entry fee covers your Players Pack, which contains BOTH:

Total Eclipse Axiom Paradox (5 4 -4 0)
Among the most understable midranges ever produced, the Paradox is capable of some truly unique lines. High-power players will be using the Paradox for utility shots like rollers, low speed flip ups, massive nose up anhyzers, and other touch shots. Low-power players will find the Paradox is a great first midrange for straight or hyzer-flip flights.

Total Eclipse Axiom Envy (3 3 0 2)
The Envy has a smooth modern feel that fits in the hand perfectly, lending confidence for both putt and approach duties. The Envy exhibits reliable high-speed stability and a minimal fade. With a slightly lower profile and cruising speed than the Ion and Anode class, the Envy is a uniquely “lid-like” stable putter.

These will be the only two discs each player is allowed to use for this particular tournament.

We will be playing the 9-hole course twice (18 holes total), in an Ace Race format. Instead of typical stroke-play scoring, we will be using a point system that the player will be able to accrue in multiple ways:

Ace = 10 points
Chain hit = 5 points
Metal hit = 3 points
Birdie = 1 Point

Players will get two throws, 1 with each disc, from the tee box. Also, 1 additional throw from 1 of the 2 locations of either drive to attempt a birdie (2).

Points do accumulate off the tee. Examples:
Both discs are Aces from the tee = 20 points
Both discs hit metal from the tee = 6 points
1 disc hits for an Ace and 1 disc grazes the chains from the tee = 15 points
Disc wedged outside basket = 10 points/Ace
Disc resting on top of basket = 3 points

After all players in the group have thrown their 2nd shot for birdie, discs are picked up and the group moves directly to the next tee. Players keep their scorecards for round two, using the 10-18 spots on the card to record the second 9 of the round.

Tee Locations are as follows:
Advanced: Throw from original tee with the exception of holes 6 & 7 having shorter temporary marked tee boxes.

Intermediate: Throw from a shortened temporary tee on holes 1-8, hole 9 will be played from original tee.

Recreational/Ladies/Juniors: Throw from an even shorter temporary tee on holes 1-8, hole 9 will be played from original tee.

All temporary tee locations will be marked with color coded stakes & signs to help the player see where to throw from depending on which division they signed up for.

This will be a flex start style event. Participants may arrive anytime between 10am and 2pm to play the round.

AWARD CEREMONY WILL BEGIN AT 3PM

Players will be allowed to create your own card. Minimum 2 players/card, max 4 players/card. Groups of 2-4 will be put together in order of check-in within your division. If you wish to play with certain friends please add a note when registering with their names, show up together or check them in with you.

Prizes:
1st place in each division will receive a unique trophy which will represent our Rotary Satellite Club. They will also receive an exclusive WATERMELON PARADOX disc only available at these events as well as getting to pick 1 disc from the MVP Lab seconds disc box.

2nd place in each division will also be able to choose 1 disc from the MVP Lab seconds disc box

CHALLENGES
The same CTP throw off will be in place similar to last year. What division you signed up for will determine how far away from a temporary basket you will throw. Each player will use their player pack discs and will be allowed one throw with each. Closest to the pin in each division at the end of the day will recieve a WATERMELON PARADOX disc. Distances are as follows:

Advanced: 225 ft.
Intermediate: 200 ft.
Recreational/Ladies/Juniors: 175 ft.

NEWLY ADDED 2023 CHALLENGE
A new 3 shot challenge will be added this year. Players will attempt to throw each disc and have either of them come to rest within certain circular areas on the field. Each disc that lands outside approved area will no longer be in play. Discs that remain inside perimeter, or at least touching the white line, will be able to continue being thrown toward the next circle from where the disc lies. If the 2nd landing zone is reached after making to the 1st, the player will have the opportunity at a 3rd throw toward a guarded basket. Making either disc inside a designated circle as well as making the 3rd shot inside the basket will award you:

1st circle: 1 Black MVP Lanyard
2nd circle: 1 Hive Firefly Glow Vinyl in 1 of 3 colors
3rd throw landing inside basket: 1 MVP Second Labs disc

RAFFLE PRIZES
We will be holding a raffle after 1st & 2nd place awards as well as challenge rewards are given out for some sweet plastic! Each player upon arrival will choose a numbered ball to place inside our machine. The particualr disc being given away will be announced and then a randomly chosen ball will be selected. The corresponding player with that number wins the prize.

GRAND PRIZE
If your raffle ball was not selected to win a prize before the drawing of the grand prize, you will still be eligible to win. This years grand prize will feature yet another one of the event exclusive WATERMELON PARADOX discs along with an incredibly unique package of matching WATERMELON ITEMS that you will have to see to believe!!

No further entry required for raffle drawings

Due to last years outstanding support and interest, we have decided to increase the amount of entries this year from 36 spots to 48 spots. Don't miss your chance to play in this one of kind event!
