About this tournament

Welcome to The Kanawha Valley Ace Race Event, a unique tournament format featuring 3 separate 9-Hole Rounds, for a total of 27 Holes of play. Join us as we "Race" through 3 separate Kanawha Valley courses for "Aces". This is a PDGA Sanctioned C-Tier Event with play at: Saint Albans City Park, Dunbar City Park, and Coonskin Blue Family Layout for a total of 27 holes of play. The field will be capped at 45 Players. All Players will play from the same teepads and utilize the only basket location for the assigned course's layout.

Ace Race Format:
- Players will keep a PDGA Scorecard for stroke play (regular singles tournament format).
- During Registration, players may elect to participate in the "Ace Race" for an additional fee. "Ace Race" Players will keep a separate paper scorecard during each 9-Hole round. Players will record 1 point for any birdie, 3 points for any metal hit, and 5 points for an Ace. For example: you hit metal on your tee shot and make your birdie putt; you earned 4 points and record a "4" on the paper scorecard, and record a "2" on PDGA Scorecard.
- "Ace Race" Players will compete for additional merchandise payouts for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place.
- Any "Ace Race" Player who hits an Ace will receive a Disc Display Case.

Schedule:
- Round 1: Saint Albans City Park (9-Hole Layout)
- Round 2: Dunbar City Park (9-Hole Layout)
- Round 3: Coonskin Park Disc Golf Course (9-Hole Blue Family Layout)
- Payouts at Disc Golf Sports Center (Redeemer) following afternoon round.

AM Player Pack:
TBD
Players may pick up Player Packs early, on Friday, August 7, 2026.
The Sportsack is a must have accessory to keep your hands and disc dry while maintaining a consistent grip. Simply roll the bag around in your hands for a few seconds to soak up any moisture and oil to restore your natural grip. Each 100% cotton bag is filled with thousands of super thirsty Beadsorb beads. The Sportsack does not leave behind a chalky dust or messy residue and lasts much longer than rosin bags or other powder based products.

Pass-through Fees:
$3 PDGA

There must be four players to make up a division. The TD reserves the right to align fields in order to fill the tournament. If a waiting list is created by players once a pool is full, and if there are 3 players on waiting list, an opening will be made available from the other pool if positions are available.

2.02 Qualifications - Require TDs to hold underserved divisions with fewer than four players
Frequently, women, seniors, and juniors are not able to get four players for their division. While TDs are currently encouraged to run underserved divisions with fewer than four players, members still report that adoption of that suggestion is low. The change to Competition Manual 2.06 that changes the requirements of True Amateur events so that they no longer require trophies for Amateur divisions with a single player - as well as the two-weeks-prior cutoff for determining trophy amounts at True Amateur events - will minimize the impact on TDs.

L. A Tournament Director may limit the divisions they wish to offer at their event by listing only the divisions they plan to offer on their registration form.

1. If a division is offered and at least four eligible players register for that division, that division must be held.

2. If a division is underserved as defined in 1.02.C.2.c, the division must be held if at least one player registers for the division.

3. In all other cases, it is at the Tournament Director's discretion whether to hold the division or not (see 1.03.H for refund policy in that case).

On 1 April 2026 there will be a reduction in size to divisions.
