About this tournament

Forest Preserves of Cook County Tour Series:
The Hine’s Emerald Dragonfly Open is the first stop on Disc Golf Chicago’s Cook County Forest Preserve Tour Series. The Series has been developed in collaboration with the Forest Preserve to explore how the sport of disc golf and its community can support the mission of the Forest Preserve to preserve natural spaces and provide inclusive educational and recreational opportunities.
The Hine’s Emerald Dragonfly Open begins the tour at the first and only disc golf course installed on a Forest Preserve at Rolling Knolls. The next stops on the tour will explore other preserves at Busse Woods and St. Paul Woods with exciting temporary courses for each site.
Each stop on the tour celebrates a local endangered species. The Hine’s Emerald Dragonfly habitat is primarily groundwater-fed wetlands, and relies on the quality of that water making it a key indicator species. They also have an interesting relationship with crayfish, who are their natural predator, but also provide ideal homes for the dragonfly larvae in dry months when the crayfish burrows remain wet. There are less than 30,000 Hine’s Emerald Dragonfly left in the world. Check out the Forest Preserves efforts to help conserve and educate about this amazing dragonfly!
Tournament Details:
This tournament will consist of two rounds with a shotgun start. Please refer to the event schedule for more details.
Player Packs:
All registered players will receive the following:
- Tour series stamped Discmania premium disc
- Bucket hat
- Enamel pin
- Sticker
