About this tournament
3 rounds of play
A Short 10 Years ago Ben Smith, Mike Corbett and David Gillett and a handful of other locals designed and installed the first iteration of the Hammonds Plains Disc Golf Course.
It consisted of 10 holes - many still in use today with some changes (only 1 has stayed in it's original form - Red 17)
With a Double Mando on the Original hole 4 being the only Par 4 and a total Par of 31 through 10 holes
or for PDGA events 62 through 20 holes
Ben and the MDGA ran the first ever PDGA event in Halifax on September 19th and 20th, 2015
It boasted 11 players over 4 divisions.

That was the beginning of Disc Golf in HRM and look where we are today.
10 years later, HP has undergone numerous changes
Here's a little history of the course!
The initial layout saw little tweaks from backing up tee pads or baskets, cleaning up fairways, trimming branches, etc.
2016 the course increased to a 18 hole, 13 basket course saw the install of the Island hole, and what is now 9 fairway!
Early 2017 the course had grown into a 18 hole, 15 basket course when we cut out what are now Holes 10, 11 and 12!
By Late Summer 2017 HP was an 18 hole, 19 basket course with putting green be installed and what is now holes 5 and 7!
The next big change didn't happen until 2020, when current hole 3 was installed and we saw hole 14 merge into 1 hole!
Then the ball really started rolling and we saw changes at a rapid rate.
April 2021 - Current Hole 6 was installed and we saw the first big change to hole 15
August 2021 - The beloved Par 5 hole 8 was created and the extended Hole 9 started to take shape
New Red Tees went in on holes 4 and 5, and Hole 13 got the blue tee pad we see today
April 2022 - Hole 11 was lengthened and a red tee was installed.
May 2023 - Green Layout was installed, our Par 5 was gone and what is now hole 8 and 9 took shape,
Hole 15 took on most of it's final form as we see today
June 2025 saw hole 16 get a massive overhaul and we now have an excellent Par 4 near the end of the course.
Throughout all the years we saw other upgrades to tee pads, signage and fairways as well.
Events starting stacking up and we saw these highlights over the years!
2016 saw the MDGA host the Capital City Clash
2017 had Adam Dowe run his first tournament the Capital City Cup
2018 and 2019 also saw a Capital City Cup, additional 1 day events, and a number of sanctioned leagues
2020 was a less than ideal year for events, but the boom in players was a great bonus
2021 brought the NSDGT together and the CCC took a back seat
2022 and 2023 saw the NSDGT thriving
2024 we saw the rise and fall of the ECDGT but we had the return of the Capital City Cup and HP's first ever B-tier
2025 we continued with hosting the CCC as a B-tier
What will we see in 2026? More cleanup, more upgrades for sure and just maybe another new hole?
Keeping this event fun, simple and cheap!
