Dear Tournament Organizers,

I would like to express my thoughts on the decision to make the SSI tournament format to a two-day event. In my opinion, this move is an excellent step forward for the future of our tournaments. I hope to see more and more events adopt this structure, especially those that fill up quickly upon registration. Opening up tournaments to a two-day format allows more players to participate, which benefits the entire disc golf community.

Now, I understand that not everyone may be thrilled with this change. Donovan, for instance, has already booked accommodations based on the previous schedule. However, I believe there are still viable options for him. Despite the inconvenience, Donovan can choose to play in the tournament. The ferry schedule aligns well with the event, even if it means he’ll get home late. Additionally, taking Monday off work could be a solution for him.

By splitting the tournament into Pro/MA1 on Saturday and Am on Sunday, we effectively double the number of players who can participate. Considering how quickly Saltspring tournaments fill up, accommodating more players is essential. While some may opt out due to late-night travel on Sunday, I believe this group will be a minority compared to those who missed out entirely when the tournament filled up instantly.

In my last most recent experience, playing a Saltspring tournament it reached capacity within a day of opening registration. Many players expressed their desire to participate but couldn’t due to limited space. Encouraging two-day events ensures that more people can enjoy the competition. Given that both the Advanced and Pro divisions filled up in a single day, this change was necessary to accommodate the growing interest.

This was a big mistake to change this tournament from 1 day into a 2 day tournament. by doing this you have all but eliminated any golfers coming from the mainland to play on the amateur day, as there is no ferry service to the mainland after 3pm, and you have the second round starting at 2pm. If you did not want people from the mainland to play at Salt Spring, you shouldn't have added this tournament in the Duck Golf series, rather you could have added it to your island series. I have accommodations booked and was planning on having this be one of the 4 I needed to be in the series, now I have to cancel bookings and try and adjust my schedule to fit in every tournament left in the series to have my games count. I'm extremely disappointed in this change the day before registration was to open.
