Good evening!
I wanted to get this tournament email out this evening. Cheryl and I are super excited about the upcoming Crossover So LONG Winter event at Osage Grove this Sunday (3/20). This is a 1 round, 30 hole PDGA C-tier event.
The following will be the most important details for the event. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions or
comments before the event.
The event is a 1 rounder of 30 holes. We are playing all 24 Osage Grove holes, plus 6 temp holes. It should be a fun and challenging day for everyone. With the forecast of rain on Friday, just know it could be muddy or wet in spots. We will play all standing water as casual, MINUS the creek on Old 1/19, the letter holes, hole 6, and in between 14 and 15. The creek on 17 and 18 and considered casual for those holes only.
There are two different layouts. All Open divisions and MA1 are playing an all blue tee layout. All other AM's are playing a majority of blue layout, with a few red tees put in place. This is to help with pace of play for all players for the round. We have cut down on some of the holes that are "time eaters" for the AM's divisions (minus MA1).
The course is marked. There are a few limbs that will be trimmed before the round starts on Sunday. This really just applies to Temp 1, Temp 2, and hole A.
The schedule will look like this for the day:
9-945a - Player check in by hole 1
10a - Shotgun Start
@130p - Awards and payouts
I can't stress enough, please take the short amount of time to physically check in with us by hole 1. This helps us make sure that everyone is here, and there are no holes with less than 3 players. It might not seem like a big deal to you, but it causes us issues trying to figure out if you are present or not. Please, please, please, just stop by and check in with us. Thank you in advance for this!
It's going to be a fun day and event. The layout flows very well. I have attached a picture of the layout and the particulars. We are not going to have a players meeting. It is your responsibility to know what's expected for the day.
For the flow of the day, the order of the holes will be on the physical scorecard and in PDGA Live. The access code is: long
Please refer to the attached picture for appropriate tees, flow, basket locations, and OB. Please take note of your layout and the notes provided. The only part that might be confusing is playing the holes in the appropriate order in the 13-16 part of the course. After you play hole 13, you will head to the right and go to 14. Everyone will tee off from the BLUE TEES on 14. The Open/MA1 pool will go to the hanging basket. All other AM's will go to the platform. For the sake of the flow, you will then have to walk past the hanging basket, hang a left and head to hole 15. The Open/MA1 pool will play from the BLUE TEE and all other AM's will play from the RED TEE (take a deep breath and enjoy the walk). Everyone then heads over the bridge by the road to go up to 16 BLUE TEE. Please note, with the forecast of rain on Friday, it is going to be muddy back there. If you can get to the road and walk up the hill to 16 blue (there is a path from road to tee), I would recommend that.
If you decide that this event is not for you, to receive a full refund, you must withdraw by 8p Friday.
I will have hole assignments up by Saturday, but just know that they could change due to players dropping/adding last minute. With the 120 cap, our goal is 4 per card. Cards are grouped randomly by division by PDGA. Since this is a shotgun start, there is no need for special requests because everyone starts and ends about the same time. Being a competitive and sanctioned event, we don't group friends up for that reason.
Following the round, please give us a few minutes to get everything organized so we can hand out awards and payouts. With 120 people, that is a lot to work through. If you are curious if you are going to get a payout, it is the top 40% per division by the PDGA. That will help you determine if you need/want to stick around. The Open players will receive cash/PayPal, and the AM's Crossover Cash. This can be exchanged for disc golf merchandise that we will have on hand.
For those who are in the ACE fund, if no ACE is hit, we will do a throw off. The winner of the throw off will win the whole ace pot.
In the event there is a tie for first place in a division, they playoff will start on hole #1 until there is a winner, playing the flow of holes of the event (temp and letter holes included) from the blue tees.
This is a PDGA event, so everyone should be up to date on the PDGA's stance on what is legal and what is not legal.
It's going to be a great day. Please contact us with any questions you may have!
We will see you Sunday!
Thanks,
Josh and Cheryl
