About this tournament
2 rounds of play
If you have never played a tournament before, this is a great one to start. And if you have, this is the brainchild of realizing there is not a lot of disc golf happening west of Cleveland, so I decided to try something out and put on a casual flex start to grow the sport in a small way.
The Amateur payout, which might be the whole field of players will be paid out with gift cards to Armory Disc Golf which is an online store that I think does great business and has anything you could ever want and more. They also will most likely be providing the CTPs for this event, which was a generous offer on their end.
In terms of CTPs, we will do CTPs on all/most of the par 3s and all you do for that is move the stake if you are closest to the pin and write your name on the paper. I will coordinate getting the CTP prizes to everyone. (CTP is “closest to the pin” if you’ve never done this)
This will be a flex-start format (you sign up for your own tee time), and we will be playing Cahoon Creek twice. I think this course has its quirks but is a lot of fun.
Some Details:
- Hole 1: par 3 - no notes
- Hole 2: par 3 - will mark tee pad away from roots, river OB
- Hole 3: par 3 - will mark tee pad, river OB, be aware of next tee pad, (make sure if someone is on the next tee you give them a heads up)
- Hole 4: par 4 - will mark tee pad, river OB
- Hole 5: par 3 - no notes
- Hole 6: par 4 - mando on tree on right near last basket (to keep from cutting corner)
- Hole 7: par 3 - parking lot past basket OB (small sidewalk in grass not OB)
- Hole 8: par 4 - parking lot OB on left, walking path not OB, be aware of hole 9 (ask to throw if players near fairway or wait for them to finish)
- Hole 9: par 3 - parking lot OB on left, be aware of hole 8 (ask to throw if players in fairway or wait for them to finish)
General notes:
- holes overlap which is not ideal, so work with others and give people the benefit of the doubt
- river OB on every hole, the disc has to be fully surrounded by water, ask your card mates for ruling
This will be a sanctioned round (which means it counts towards your PDGA rating). We will be using the PDGA app for live scoring that you can check throughout the day before or after the round. It is a great app and keeps everyone honest. Download the app before your round and I’ll send the password out before the tournament day.
