Welcome to the tournament registration page for PRO players for the 34th Checkered Flag Open presented by Disc Crazy, to be held Sunday 9/17/23 at the Brookside Park disc golf course.
– History –
Indy Disc Golf Club’s premier annual event, the Checkered Flag Open (CFO) is the oldest and most distinguished disc golf tournament in Central Indiana, drawing top players from all over the Midwest to Indianapolis each year to compete for the flag. Past winners include PDGA World Champions, Hall-of-Famers, and local legends. Could the next one be you?
– Major Details –
The 34th CFO will take place Saturday, September 16th (AM) & Sunday, September 17th (PRO) at beautiful Brookside Park in Indianapolis. For each player class, the CFO is a one-day, 2-round PDGA-sanctioned B-Tier event. Amateur players will play two 20-hole rounds on Saturday, 9/16, and professional players will play two 18-hole rounds on Sunday, 9/17. There will be a one-hour break between rounds, and the same layout will be played for each round. Current PDGA membership is required for all players.
– Fees and Payouts –
• $50 AM (All) – 100% net entry to payouts
• All amateur merchandise payouts will be redeemed through Disc Crazy.
• $750 added player pack value, wholesale cost: all amateur players will receive an event T-shirt and a souvenir commemorative of the Brookside Park disc golf course (as yet another major redesign looms with construction of Pogue’s Run Greenway). The value of these items will NOT be deducted from amateur payout totals and expected wholesale cost is about $750-800, or about $10 per amateur player.
• $80 MPO – 100% net entry to payouts
• $60 PRO (All Other) – 100% net entry to payouts
• All professional player payouts will be made via PayPal. Please use the email associated with your PayPal account to register for the event.
• $750 added cash, with room to grow depending upon sales of event sponsorship items.
#Net entry is total entry fee minus the $3 PDGA fee for this event tier – e.g. for an amateur player entry fee of $50, $47 will be put into payouts.
– Trophies –
The CFO has awarded some of Central Indiana's most legendary trophies, and the tradition continues for the 34th this year. IDGC master woodworker Kevin Gillon is making custom trophies for all divisions. If you've seen Kevin's work from previous events, you already know that you want one of these trophies on your shelf.
– Waitlist –
If all spots have filled for your desired division, you may register for the waitlist. If available spots held for specific divisions have not filled after Friday 9/1/23, then players will be promoted off the waitlist to fill the demand in other divisions, per the discretion of the tournament director.
– Layouts –
All professional players will play an 18-hole layout on Sunday, 9/17. MPO and MP40 will play the "Platinum" layout, which includes some safari-hole elements and associated mandatories and drop zones that will be marked for the event. MP50, MP60, FPO, and FP40 will play a version of this layout that uses the available short tee pads and that does not include the safari-hole elements. Event layouts are currently available on UDisc.

– Sponsor or Volunteer –
The sponsor form for the 34th CFO is attached in the documents section of this page. Sponsors and volunteers allow us to deliver a great player experience each year that exceeds the value of entry fees. This event would not be possible without this kind of community support. Please contact tournament director and IDGC President Adam Harvey with any questions about sponsoring or volunteering at the 34th CFO.
#Thank you to Disc Crazy, Big Lug Brewing, Jax Roofing, the Circle City Acers, and Chris Blair Inspections for sponsoring this event already. Support your Sponsors! Be on the lookout at your local Sahm’s establishment for this year’s release of our official CFO brew, Dr. Ted Putt, the #1-doctor-recommended antidote to any and all Ted-putts!
