IMPORTANT TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

First let me thank our tournament sponsors:

The park and course will be open by 7:30 a.m. Please enter through the auxiliary gate which is located about 1/4 mile north of the main entrance before the maintenance entrance and Ox Bow School. Look for a dirt road off of County Road 45.

Once you enter the park, drive up the dirt road (parallel to hole 23) and turn left at the intersection. You can park by hole one or a little further up between holes 2, 19 and 20. Stable shelter is there. Bathrooms are also in that location.

Check-in will begin no later than 8 a.m. with the player's meeting at 8:15 a.m. and tee off at 8:30. All players must check in at tournament central which is located at the Stable shelter.

Daylight is at a premium this time of year, especially with the overcast skies forecast for Saturday. Please be mindful of the schedule. We will observe a strict 1-hour break between the first and second rounds. There is no meeting between rounds. After lunch you should go to your assigned hole and await the 2-minute warning.

Consider packing your lunch. If you leave the park between rounds please re-enter through the auxiliary gate and leave yourself time to get back just in case there is a train or two on the tracks which run parallel with CR 45 and perpendicular to the 15 or so restaurants across from the park.

REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE tonight at 11:00 p.m. EST.

To date, I have processed a total of 29 withdraws. So far, each time there's been a withdraw, there's also been a player on the waitlist ready to take the spot. As a reminder, here is our refund policy that has been posted on this site since Aug. 1:

"Players who officially request to withdraw from the event between November 1 and November 11, 2021 will receive a 100% cash refund minus a $10 fee ONLY if their spot in the tournament is filled through the waitlist. If the player's spot is NOT filled, we will provide a 25% cash refund.

Players who do NOT officially request to withdraw from playing in the event, do not show up for the event, or try to withdraw after November 11, 2021 (which is our drop date) forfeit their entry fee and do NOT receive a refund or player pack. Round times and divisions are set using the registration list as of this date, so there are no exceptions to this rule. If you have questions please contact the tournament director."

The next PDGA player ratings update will be published on Tuesday, November 9th. These ratings will be used to determine the eligible divisions for all players registered for the Turkey Shootout on Saturday, November 13th.

If a player's rating rises above the threshold for the division they are currently registered, I will move that player "up" into the appropriate division. If a player's new rating allows them to move "down" into another division I will ONLY move that player IF they request a move to another division in writing by Thursday, November 11th at 11:00 p.m. EST. Players who are eligible to move "down" may also do so by adjusting their registration by Thursday, November 11th at 11:00 p.m EST.

Good news if you want to get some practice rounds in this weekend. I spent a few hours out at Ox Bow after work on Thursday. The water continues to recede. The walking bridge next to the spillway is open. The spillway is still too high to cross. You can park there and walk in. Most of the course is in very good shape. However, a few holes still have significant water on them. As of Thursday, holes 4, 9, and 11 are unplayable. The river has subsided from holes 12 and 13 but remains very high on the left edge of the fairway. There is also standing water on the fairway of hole 12.

Is waitlist by division? So I need someone to drop out of MA2 for me to be in? what about if someone drops from another division with no waitlist?

Its hard to tell the waitlist order, how it is now. I am 3rd or 4th on the overall waitlist (if you are doing it that way)

Today the MA4 (Novice) division was opened up for registration. Any player who is already registered for the event with a rating below 850 may switch to the MA4 division. New players may join and register for MA4 if their rating is below 850 (men) or below 725 (women).

Currently registered players are not required to switch divisions if their current rating is below 850. You may prefer to play in your age protected division or in a division above your rating because you want to earn more points or play with friends. That’s fine and you are more than welcome to do so. This is simply an option.

Should you wish to and qualify for MA4, you may move divisions on your own through your original registration or contact me to do it. Keep in mind, November player ratings will be strictly enforced and player classifications will be adjusted for the event when applicable.
