About this tournament
2 rounds of play
Welcome to the home of the 2019 Saint Charles County Disc Golf Club Veterans Open. We’re very excited to be running a different style of event this year. The tournament will be a bit different from previous years.
Some things will be the same. Entry fee is $20 for civilians and $10 for Veterans. Signups can be done here through DGS, or the day of the tournament at registration and are first come first serve. Since this is a benefit tournament, there will be no payouts at the end. Outside of $1 from each entry fee being entered into the SCCDGC ace pool, all of the proceeds will be donated to an Organization by the name of “Welcome Home” based in Columbia, Missouri. A quick side note that only current SCCCDGC club members are eligible to win the ace pool. Club memberships will be available for sale at the tournament as well.
There will be a ton of CTP’s (both civilian and veteran specific) along with every competitor receiving one free ticket towards the massive fundraiser raffle at the end of the tournament. Derek and myself have worked very diligently at raising sponsorships and donations, and we feel we really have a great tournament lined up for everyone with some pretty amazing prizes. And there are more coming in by the day. I will be continuously posting pictures of the donations leading up to the event. Keep an eye out for those and make sure to bring some extra cash as this will hopefully be our largest portion of the contribution to be donated! So a little background information about Welcome Home.
Welcome Home is dedicated to serving homeless and transitioning Veterans and their families, as well those at risk of becoming homeless. We value Veteran input and recognize the importance of Veterans assisting Veterans.
Don’t leave our Veterans behind. On the battlefield this is the code. Unfortunately, some service members have a difficult time transitioning back into civilian life, many carrying scars of combat—some physical, some mental.
Welcome Home is taking action to reduce Veteran homelessness by being more than just a shelter. We provide supportive services, tools and resources to improve overall quality of life of those who served.
Just as there’s a commitment to never leave the wounded on the battlefield, we commit to never leaving our Veterans on the streets. The link to more information on Welcome Home, to include a very inspiring and informational video, is: https://www.welcomeveterans.org/.
We as a club feel very strongly about supporting this cause, and the community. There is a need to support those who have supported us. Knowingly, or unknowingly. These courageous men and women gave years of service to this great country and do not deserve to be living alone on the streets. The VA reports over 700 homeless veterans living in the state of Missouri.
The first round will be played from the blue (pro) tees, and the second from the red (am) tees. As mentioned before, there will be quite a few CTP’s throughout the course mixed in both rounds. There will also be a 50/50 fundraiser CTP available for a buy in of an addition $2. Half will go to the winner, half will be donated.
We will have custom made trophy’s for both the civilian winner, and the Veteran winner. More to come on those. No lunch will be served, but we will have a lunch break if one hour after the last card comes in from the first round. The schedule posted is a rough estimate and is subject to change, other than the first tee time.
Lastly, we have tee signs available for $10 per hole. One hole sponsorship purchase will have your business, or personal logo on both teepads of one hole that will be seen both rounds by all competitors. All of the money raised will be added to the donation. All teesign artwork must be submitted to [email redacted] no later than 11/5/2019.
If there are any further questions, please feel free to ask either in the comments or emailing myself directly. My cell number is (636) 312-9395 if you would like to call or text and discuss anything personally.
We are very excited to host this benefit, and we hope to see all of your smiling faces out there to support such a great cause. Bundle up, rock that red, white, and blue, and come join us for the SCCDGC 2019 Veterans Open!
