Matt, thank you for the feedback... All of the volunteers that helped with the event worked very hard to keep things moving, and there was no downtime on our end, we worked our asses off from 6:30 am until we packed our stuff up and left after 10 pm. With the record number of players most people would expect a little delay. It might be helpful for you to understand the details of running a large event as far as tallying scores, waiting on groups to finish, getting cards set up, all the while putting out little fires throughout the day. I would recommend that you volunteer to help out with an event in your area, or maybe even run one yourself. That way you can appreciate everything that goes into putting these things together. Planning for that number of players is a lot of work, and I commend all of the volunteers that worked their butts off to make this a great event. Part of the HMC tradition is to meet new people and socialize and enjoy yourself, which I am guessing is what the other 145 players did during the delay.… Again, thanks for the feedback and it is unfortunate that you went away with such a bad feeling. We’ll work on streamlining things in the future for sure, and after 15 Years of running this event, the numbers have increased every year, so maybe there is something we are doing right….Good luck in your future endeavors.

One little snippet to add to Brian's post--- this was the first year in 15 years where we changed the format of the tournament. We tried our best to guestimate the times for the schedule, but since this tournament was formatted differently, that is all we could do--give it our best guess for the times on the schedule. We will use the information gathered this past weekend to continue to try and make HMC a better event each and every year. Thanks for your feedback.

Another snippet: I've been playing in tournaments 20+ years, including PDGA sanctioned, including several Majors and 2 World Championships, and NOT ONE of them has ever stuck exactly to the schedule. The schedule is supposed to be approximate, that's how things work in this sport. There is especially NO WAY to determine exactly when the second round will start, b/c even in a PDGA event the rule is at least ONE HOUR after the LAST scorecard is turned in. When you play in tournaments, you had better be prepared to sacrifice the whole day to be at the event b/c somethimes things happen. Also, the competitive part of this tournament is the LAST thing the staff is concerned with, which is EXACTLY why it has been UNSANCTIONED for 14 out of 15 years (only the 1st was a PDGA event). This event is about fun, festivity, friends, and family and if you didn't understand that going into this event, well I suppose it's a good thing that you won't be back.
