The Victorian Masters Series is envisioned as a model state-based competition pathway for Masters disc golfers, with an anticipated calendar of at least 10 events across metropolitan and regional Victoria.
The events are designed to be accessible, affordable and community-focused. The series will provide regular competitive opportunities for Masters players, with discounted entry benefits for AMDG members, while helping build a stronger and more connected Masters disc golf community.
The VMS is being run partially as a fundraiser for the newly formed Australian Masters Disc Golf incorporation and the Aussie Masters. Therefore, the event prizes will be minimal.
There will be 2-4 CTBs per event, spread across divisions, and we have some cool winners chips to collect for the divisional winners of each event.
The chips have been designed and produced by clever people at Bespoke Disc Golf. They feature the AMDG characters or icons strewn across the pages of the AMDGi.au website. If you have not had a look yet, then please do.
The number of CTBs will be linked to the number of registered players for each event. The CTBs will be gift cards from the Victorian disc golf merchandisers who partner with us. If you would like to be one of those then please get in touch with an email to [email redacted].
We will have some awesome trophies and other prizes for the end of series champions and runners up. These will also be linked to the number of players in each division. We will have a better idea of what will be on offer mid-way through the series.
Every event in the series will offer all the Masters divisions offered by the PDGA. However, there are a couple of things to note:
- Only divisions with a reasonable number of players (we don't want to put an exact number on this just yet) will be eligible for end of series prizes and the VMS organizing committee reserves the right to amalgamate smaller divisions for the purpose of issuing end of season prizes. We do encourage you to play in any division that you qualify for and are comfortable playing in.
- The Pro divisions are playing for the same sort of prizes as the Am divisions. There will be no cash payouts.
We plan to use the DGS series leaderboard as a guide for end of season standings. This is the first series that we are running through DGS so please be patient with us as we work out the best system to make it fair and equitable for all. This may require a bit of manual intervention from the VMS organizing committee, but we will have it all formalized no later than mid-way through the competition in July. If you have any experience in this area and are willing to help, please let us know.
We are currently working with Victorian clubs, organizations and individuals to put together a calendar of events. If you would like more information on the series or would like to run an event in the series, please contact Jeff Brunsting and Anthony Pearsall using the DGS contact info.
Thanks for supporting Australian Masters Disc Golf by being part of the Victorian Masters Series.
