I81 Disc Golf Series
The ORIGINAL I81DGS was, and still is, an annual point series focused on bringing disc golf along the I81 corridor of Virginia - West Virginia - Maryland - Pennsylvania to new levels - raising participation and recognition to the great Tournaments, Courses, Clubs and TDs that drive the game of disc golf in each locality.
Now that the goal of bringing disc golf along I81 to new heights has been accomplished - we have been EXPANDING to new locations and courses! These events off the I81 corridor are respectfully labeled the "Detour Tour". They are equal in all regards and are bringing the overall series to new heights each year.
The new goals are to encourage a large crossover among many players and clubs to venture out of their local areas and take in some new experiences all over the quad-state series.
The series strives to raise participation in newer events just getting off the ground, while introducing players to well established events they have heard of but not yet have made the trip to - this intermixing will open the door for players to go out and see firsthand all of the incredible Courses and Events that various TDs and Clubs have put in so much work and time to bring to our disc golf family. Simply - New Courses and Events = New Friends and FUN.
I81DGSeries QUALIFYING:
Mixed' divisions must play in FIVE of the events that your division is offered to qualify for year-end awards.
If playing more than 5 events, your lowest finishes will drop and your SEVEN highest will go towards points (Mixed).
Ladies' and Junior divisions must play in THREE of the events that your division is offered to qualify for year-end awards.
If playing more than 3 events, your lowest finishes will drop and your FIVE highest will go towards points (Women/Juniors).
Total Events - (20+)
Top 7 point totals count (Mixed).
Top 5 point totals count (Women/Juniors).
The system is to reward those who play in more than the minimum number of events to qualify.
Bonus points for placing in the top 5 of your division at any event --- 7 for 1st - 5 for 2nd - 3 for 3rd - 2 for 4th - 1 for 5th. Tied spots points are split.
TIERED points:
C Tier =1X points
B Tier =1.5X points
A Tier =2X points
I81DGSeries PAYOUTS:
Custom Trophies for the top 3 in each qualified division - PRO and AM. (Your Name / Division / Year on each)
I81DGS Year-End PAYOUT = 2026 - $TBA
PRO - 2026 - $TBA (Possible additional cash)
AM - Trophies and I81 plastic that can ONLY be won. None of it will be available for purchase at any time. If you see someone throwing these stamps, they placed in the series.
(Awards are given at the first event of the following year)
Please keep in mind that the trophies - design, materials and production are always donated and not being deducted from the PRO overall payout balance.
