The regular season for WPAS has completed, all that is left is the finale at Autumn's End Open!

A couple of quick notes:
-The points totals have been updated, and we are excited to present trophies and cash payouts to each of the series winners! 2nd place and beyond will be paid out via Paypal for the series.
-There is a waitlist for Autumn's End Day 1, but there are plenty of spots available for our age protected Ams, Recreational Ams, Novice Ams, and Juniors on Sunday the 9th.

Now on to the good stuff. We have another leader swap in our pro divisions! MP40 has a strong hold on the division but 1 or 2 folks from MPO could catch them with the right circumstances. Zack Spang has overtaken the lead in the Advanced/Intermediate divisions, but no lead is safe with multiple players right behind him. Zachary Stauski has overtaken Joe Zierer in a close contest to hold on to 1st in the Recreational/Novice division and Tim Hare has taken the lead in the Masters/Juniors Division. Some divisions are a little more clearcut, but no lead is safe going into the finale!

Okay, here is the 2/3rds season update (the mid-season update got lost in the with the garbage when I threw it out with the kitchen sink.

A couple of quick notes:
-The series major point multipliers were not working properly (thank you Chris Lachendro for catching that)
-The 3rd WPAS major, Summer's End Open is available to register
-The penultimate event, The Rebellion has registration going live shortly

1 small note: To ease the end of Series burden so we can get series payouts done faster, only 1st place for each pool will be paid out in cash on the day of. All other series payouts will be done via paypal. We will have awards ceremonies for every pool with trophies for 2nd-5th based on the series attendance so please stick around after your final round is finished at the Series Finale.

We are nearly at the midpoint of the 2025 Western PA Series and have now completed 2 of the 4 Series Majors! We have a little less than a month until our next events with The Sizzler and the Indiana County Open.

We see no change in the leaderboard for our pros, but I expect that to change once more of the pros reach the 5 event minimum. All other divisions have had a bit of a shakeup.

Changelog for 2025 plus reasoning for the changes

Individual PDGA divisional leaderboards have been done away with. In their place, we will be consolidating the divisions in WPAS to 4 categories. They are as follows.
--Division 1 - All Pros
--Division 2 - Advanced and Intermediate Amateurs
--Division 3 - Recreational and Novice Amateurs
--Division 4 - Age Protected Amateurs and Juniors

Note that ensuring you meet the minimum played event total is the surest way to score highly on points!
This change was made to help us bump payouts for less attended divisions, increase competition and comradery between multiple divisions, makes tracking point totals less complicated for the series organizers, and allows us to increase the quality and grandeur of trophies

Played events that count for points is now 5 total events, down from 7. This is due to a planned slight reduction in number of WPAS events. This number may go up to 6 or down to 4 depending on the finalized series schedule. Overall we are aiming to reduce the frequency that the series visits courses. Our general goal is to only use each course once to per season. If an event is a multi-course event (like the finale this past year), we will give some leeway to it, but we only want to play up to 3 rounds at each course where possible. We felt we used Deer Lakes far too many times in the series this past year and that doesn't really meet our goal of showcasing as much of Western PA Disc golf as we can.

Camber Disc Golf Company run events during the regular season (Winter's End Open, Hunter Farm Huckfest, and Summer's End Open) are now considered "Series Majors" and are worth 1.25x points. The finale at Autumn's End Open remains worth 2x points. This is to give a couple events for folks to prioritize attending and playing well at as our team can guarantee the quality of events expected of us.

Given the larger divisions, the number of people paid out, and the amounts paid out have been updated to the following (these are subject to slight change in the event of drastically higher or lower than estimated registrations):
Less than 100 Players = 100% to 1st place
100-249 Players = 65% to 1st place, 35% to 2nd place
250-399 Players = 55% to 1st place, 30% to 2nd place, 15% to 3rd place
400+ Players = 42.5% to 1st place, 25% to 2nd place, 15% to 3rd place, 10% to 4th place, 7.5% to 5th place

Note that how players are counted remains the same as last year. If player A participates in 4 events, that individual is counted as 4 separate players for the total player count in that division for the season

The estimated champion's purses after every 2 events will be posted here in the comments section. This is a tracking system for players to ensure every dollar collected in series fees is accounted for. Bonuses to the series pot from sponsors will be added after the last regular season event after all costs have been determined to bolster each division's purse as needed.

Lastly, pro players will once again have to have a stake in the series to compete. Similar to amateur divisions, a $2 or $3 fee per player at each event will be taken out of entry fees to bolster that division's Series Champion's Purse (Fee amount will vary based on budget constraints and PDGA tier but will always be available on that events DGscene page prior to registration opening).
