Played a mid-morning twosome. It was 76 degrees at our 10:15 AM Tee Time. It was calm, overcast, and very-humid. It took a little coordination over the weekend, but with an early telephone call today, around 9:00 AM (after Raymond's telephone message was finally delivered to his telephone by his service - when he was in Town) we were able to set up a mid-morning round. I was +2 on the day. Raymond was -2 . Raymond played four practice Holes before I arrived and was -4 on the Front Nine. A Double Bogey on Hole 16 prevented him from having a really low round.

Played an early morning twosome. It was around 70 degrees at our 7:00 AM Tee Time. It was calm, overcast, very-humid and damp, with drops of water falling off the trees from an early morning rain. I played good. I had only one Bogey. I was -2 on the day. Raymond was Even.

Played an early morning threesome. Tee time was at 7:00 AM. It was calm, very-humid and sunny in the early morning. I played good. I had Ace Runs on Holes 1 and 8. On Hole 1, my drive was a little left and a few feet above the basket. On Hole 8, my drive flew high (a few feet), directly over the basket. My only real bad Hole was Hole 3, where my drive faded deep off the fairway, almost to an adjoining fairway. I had to scramble for Double Bogey. I was +1 on the day. Raymond was -2. Ronald was +9.

Grand Central Station, Black - Freight 2019, 18 holes
Played a morning threesome. It was in the 70's, sunny, calm and humid. We completed the round by 8:30 AM. I had at least two long par saving putts, one outside the 30 foot circle and one on the edge of the circle, uphill. I also had a birdie putt within the 60 foot circle. I was disappointed on some of my drives and long throws - I threw three consecutive throws less than 100 feet on the long, Hole 6. I kept releasing them and they would turn over into the ground. I was using my Mamba, which has a strong turn over tendency, but it usually doesn't do that for me - I haven't been throwing that hard. I wasn't sure what was going on. There were also a few holes that were tailor made for me as a left hander and I didn't throw the disc like I wanted. The disc kept landing on the throwing-arm side of the fairways instead of the off-hand side like I wanted. All and all I was disappointed in a +13. Raymond was +6. Ronald was +19.

Played an early morning fivesome. Tee Time was at 7:00 AM. It was calm, humid and sunny in the early morning. This was a more casual round than usual with Donna and Hudson playing. They have played a few rounds before but are relative beginners. They played with one stroke off their score, per Hole. They throw OK but would throw better if their footwork was synchronized with their arm action and release. I was +3 on the day. Raymond was -1. Ronald was +8. Donna was +5 (+23). Hudson was +10 (+28).

Played an early morning threesome. It was in the 65 degrees at 6:30 AM. Tee Time was 7:00 AM. It was calm, dry and partly cloudy in the early morning. I had a terrible Front Nine with 4 Bogeys and 2 Double Bogeys to go with a single Birdie. It was not until the Back Nine that I warmed up and threw a -1. I made a 50 foot par saving putt on Hole 16. I was +6 on the day. Raymond was -3 and sounded much better than on June 1, 2019 (he wasn't wheezing). Ronald was +11 on the day.

Played an early morning threesome. It was in the 64 degrees at Tee Time, 7:00 AM. It was calm, dry and sunny in the early morning. This was the first round in a few weeks. I was also breaking in a new Mamba, Mako3, Birdie, Nova, and Tee Devil (my main discs at Shaver). Raymond had some medical procedures since our last round and had a solid +2 on the day. Ronald was +6 on the day. And I was +6 on the day.

It should be noted that Raymond had been sick all weekend and was a little weak walking the course.

Played an early morning twosome. It was cool at 7:30 AM, calm, and sunny. We met another player on the course on the 5th Hole. He was practicing for the Spring Fling the weekend of April 27, 2019 at Shaver and Sertoma in Walhalla. He did not want to join as he was throwing 3 or 4 discs to practice. He allowed us to play through. I was +5 for the day. Raymond was -4 on the Front Nine and ended up at -3 for the day.

Played an early morning twosome. It was in the 61 degrees at 7:30 AM, calm, and overcast. I made a par saving putt on Hole 2 from outside the circle. My drives were a little short and off the mark most of my round but my approach shots were good. I was never in serious trouble except on Hole 6, where I hit a tree on my drive and then hit another, scrambling out of the woods. I had an excellent drive on Hole 9 and made birdie. Jackson Park, Regular tees, 18 holes
Played a morning threesome. It was in the 34 degrees, calm, and sunny,at approximately 8:45 AM . As the round progressed a breeze picked up coming out of the west. This was the coldest temperature in which I have played a round of disc golf, in the last three years. I have played this course a couple of times before but I don't think I have posted any scores for Jackson Park because of the multiple basket placements on any given layout. We played a morning round and an afternoon round here a couple of years ago and the morning basket placements were different from the afternoon basket placements. They change them often and that quickly. So par for each Hole, on any given round, can be either easier or more difficult depending on the basket placement, without changing par for the Hole. There were at least 3, new basket placements on the course that I had never played before this round. I was +10 for the day. Raymond was +10 (playing the same baskets but Long Tees), Ronald was +22

Played an afternoon threesome. This was the last round of disc golf before one of my regular playing partners got married. Sertoma Field, Regular tees, 18 holes
Played an afternoon threesome. It was in the 60's, calm, and overcast. I was down two strokes on the final hole and needed a good drive. I pulled my drive a little to the left of the fairway, off my mark. It disappeared over the hill, but had good speed - I was a little worried about the creek that borders the left side of the course. When I got to the top of the hill, I could see my disc within 5 feet of the basket - it must have travelled left and then skipped 40 feet, slightly to the right, around a guardian tree, and landed in the bullseye. I made birdie and Raymond bogeyed. We finished tied. I was +4 for the day. Raymond was +4 and Ronald was +9.

MY FIRST ROUND UNDER PAR Played a morning twosome with Raymond. Tee time was 7:15 AM . It was 72 degrees, calm, overcast, and very humid at 6:30 AM. I played the Front Nine at 1 under Par and stayed in the fairway. My drive on Hole 10 hit a tree and only went 80 feet. But my second throw on Hole 10 was within 10 feet of the basket. I made a few putts of about 20 feet on the Back Nine to save par. The rest of my putts for Par or Birdie were within 10 feet. I had an easy day. I played the Back Nine at 1 under Par. I was Bogey free with two Birdies for -2 on the day. Raymond was +1.

Played a morning round with Raymond. Tee time was 7:00 AM. It was overcast, calm, and humid. We had a round scheduled for the 29th but my throwing shoulder was sore, so we rescheduled for today. Again, I was a little rusty with a week layoff. In addition, I was "guarding" my shoulder until I got loose. So I was either real late or too early on my releases of my drives on Holes 2 and 3, respectively. I was +5 by the end of my round. Raymond was -6, making 3 Birdies on the Front 9 and 5 Birdies on the Back 9.

Played a morning threesome. Tee time was 7:00 AM. It was sunny, calm, and humid with a temperature of 67 degrees at 6:30 AM. I was Even on the front nine. The back nine was playing more difficult these past few weeks with the limbs of fallen trees, either blocking fairways or potential flight paths to the basket. This was especially true on Holes 14 and 17. On Hole 14, limbs were blocking my landing area for my drive. On Hole 17, the path from the tee pad to the basket was covered. Both of those Holes seemed to be playing pretty well for Righties but far more difficult for Lefties. I was +5 on the back nine for a total of +5 thru 18 Holes. Raymond was Even. Raymond had a notable throw on Hole 11 - he had a blind, downhill throw-in, outside of 60 feet, through the woods. Ronald was +8.

Played a morning threesome. Tee time was 7:00 AM. It was sunny and calm. It was in the low 70's but extremely humid. At 7:00 AM the air was so humid that it was visible in the morning light. The weather forecasters said the humidity was 95% but down near the two creeks that run through Shaver the humidity must have been close to 100% - it was tough to catch a breath and the sweat just dripped off of us. I had a good front nine of +1 but threw my drive on Hole 10 to the right of the fairway, into the woods. I took two risky throws trying to get out of the woods instead of playing for bogey and safely throwing onto to the fairway - they didn't work out. But on a good note - I made a 50 foot blind, uphill, birdie throw on Hole 18 that I had to Hyzer around a tree that was 25 feet from my position. I didn't see it go in but I did hear it rattle the chains. Raymond was + 2. Ronald was +5.

Played a morning foursome. Tee time was 7:00 AM. It was sunny, humid, calm and 68 degrees at 6:30 AM and around 75 degrees at 8:30 AM. I had a mediocre round of +5. I did have a good drive with my new Shryke on Hole 12, throwing 40 feet further than my previous longest throw on that Hole. Raymond was + 2. Ronald was even. Donna plays once a year and did well. She was +12 with an extra throw per Hole.

Played a morning foursome. Tee time was 7:30 AM. It was sunny, humid, calm and 68 degrees at 7:00 AM and around 78 degrees at 8:30 AM. I played the front nine at 2 under par with 2 birdies. The heat and humidity got to me a little bit on the back nine and was 3 over par with 5 bogeys and 2 birdies. I was +1 on the day. Raymond was - 2. Ronald was playing with sore throwing shoulder and it showed. He was +13. Brannon had not played in while and he was rusty at +9.

Played a morning threesome with Ronald and Raymond. At 7:30 AM, it was cool and humid, starting at 64 degrees with partly sunny skies, ending at 66 degrees at 8:30 AM. I THREW A PAR ROUND. This was my best round since beginning a year and half ago. I threw my new Sidewinder on Holes a typically would have thrown my Mamba. My throwing speed has increased enough that my Mamba was turning over to much to keep it in the narrow fairways at Shaver. When my arm gets tired I may move back to the Mamba. My new Mirage gave me a Birdie on Hole 8, which is a short dogleg left - tough for a left hander like myself. Ronald threw a +5 and Raymond was under par.

Played a morning round with Raymond. It was 72 degrees on Hole 1 and 76 degrees on Hole 18. It was very humid after two weeks of rain and having a subtropical storm blow through the last 5 days. It was mostly cloudy but dry. This was my first round with a moisture wicking shirt. But by Hole 13 the sweat was still pouring off of me. The shirt seemed to help though. I also tried a shoulder harness for my bag. My new Deluxe bag was heavier than my old Starter bag. And, it was even heavier with the extra discs it holds along with a 32 ounce bottle of water. It isn't a lot of weight but I had some shoulder discomfort after the last time out. I thought it was prudent to distribute weight a little bit better across my shoulders. I don't know if I will keep the shoulder harness though. It was difficult to get in and out of it between shots with the straps adjusted to wear the bag comfortably. We shall see. I also tried out my new discs. The Mirage and A1 both seemed fly as advertised with the Mirage flying back to the left (I am a lefty) and A1 fading to the right, predictably. My River is great for medium range throws that require a little more distance than I can muster with my Mako3. I had a +6 and Raymond threw a -1.

Played a morning threesome. It was sunny and calm, starting at 50 degrees and ending at 54. I threw my new Destroyer, which was way too overstable for the tight wooded fairways. I also threw my new River, but only a few times. It was chilly, enough that my hands were not opening easily or cleanly on my last few putts. The effects of the chilly temperature cost me a couple of strokes.

This was a new course (or layout) for us at Grand Central Station. We had been primarily playing the original, Black-Freight layout, unaware that this Blue-Locomotive layout was mixed in with the original, Black-Freight course. This was a morning round, in the 60's, sunny and calm. I threw better than the score indicated.

Grand Central Station, Long tees, 18 holes
Posted after my April 22, 2018 post. We played in the morning. The temperatures were in the 60's with steady winds at about 10 mph, gusting higher. We threw overstable discs into the wind and understable discs when we were throwing in the direction the wind was blowing. This seemed to keep the discs flying relatively straight but we did have a couple discs get carried off in the wind and others that were knocked down.

Played a late morning threesome. It was sunny, starting at 65 degrees, that got warmer with the midday sun . Raymond was +3. Ronald was +10. I was +5. I putted well within 15 feet but as the round progressed, my arm got tired and I missed a couple of par saves within 20 feet. As a result, I began laying up instead of going for some late, longer birdie opportunities within the circle. I drove the discs extremely well. I had only one poor drive where I pulled the disc in the woods - on Hole 6. When I needed to, I was driving about 240 - 260 feet, in the fairway. This was excellent length for me on such a narrow course. Ronald was still a little rusty from our long layoff. Raymond felt a little pressure from me as I was driving good, but he still managed a solid round.

Played a morning three some that became a foursome after the front nine. It was sunny, starting at 55 degrees. Raymond was +2. Eric was -2 on the back nine. Ronald was +11 on the front nine. I was +6. I played well for not having played in over a month. I putted well within the circle except for missing a couple of 15 footers. We picked up a fourth on Hole 10 - Eric. He was much better than we were. We noted that he held his discs much higher than we do, closer to shoulder height. It gave him more elevation on his throws than ours. He also turned more on his cross step than we do. The combination gave him more distance on his throws than we get.

Played a morning foursome. It was sunny, starting at 60 degrees. Raymond was +1. Rodney was +7. Ronald was +9. I was +8. I played better than my score indicated with a double bogey on Hole 3 and a triple bogey on Hole 18. I putted average within the circle. I made a few 25 footers but missed a 20 footer on Hole 3 and 4 putted on Hole 18. On Hole 18, I putted up hill from 20 feet and hit the basket twice with the disc rolling downhill 20 feet, twice and then two putted from there. Raymond played a decent round. Rodney was a little rusty but had an amazing drive on Hole 14. His drive was over a creek, from the side of one hill to the side of another, under and through a low ceiling. He put it within 8 feet of the Hole. Ronald was under 10.

Played a morning threesome. It was mostly sunny, starting at 70 degrees. Raymond was -1. RONALD WAS -1. I Did Not Finish due to injury. I was +5 after 6 Holes. My injury DNF is not remarkable. Worth noting was that Ronald was under par for the first time, without any mulligans. I had a 2-Meter Rule penalty on my drive on Hole 2. I slipped on Hole 4 and twisted a knee and hurt my left wrist when I fell. I finished the Hole and played two more before some swelling around my wrist forced me to withdraw. I filled out my Hole by Hole score based on pars for the course and My Stats for Shaver. I average about 9 over par on Shaver. It would be nice to have a DNF or Withdraw option for the Hole by Hole scores. Raymond threw a good round at -1.

Played a morning fivesome; We all played regular. It was sunny, cool and humid, ranging from 62 degrees to 70 degrees. Raymond was +4. Rodney was +2. Jeremy was +6. Ronald was +11. I was +6. I threw my Mamba on some of my drives with good results. I was high a lot, but within the fairway. I drove to the bottom the hill on Hole 3 and to within 10 feet of the two trees on Hole 13. On other holes, I didn't drive especially well. My second shots were excellent though, pinning the hole at least twice after poor drives. On Hole 17, my short set up drive was wide right, out of the fairway and far enough to the trees that I did not have a clear shot at the Hole. I ended up in the trees on the left side after my "right handed" second shot and then down the hill, 20 feet away from the pin after my third shot. I two-putted from there. The discs were a little slick from the morning dew, but I was able to dry them effectively. I putted well within the circle, saving par with some longer putts - except Hole 17. Raymond had a "so-so" round. Jeremy is a bigger fella that puts a lot of spin on his throws. He hasn't been playing very long but does well. Ronald was a little erratic - his foot is doing well enough that he began crow hopping on some of this drives again. I think that has thrown him off - switching back and forth between stationary and crow hopping. Rodney did ok at +2.

I threw my Mamba on most of my drives. It is still flying stable to overstable; I spent some time in the trees after a few drives faded too much, late. I played better than my score indicated. I had a double bogey on Holes 2, 10, 15 and a triple bogey on 3. On Holes 2 and 3, I ended up in the trees and had trouble getting out. On Hole 10, I took a penalty stroke with the 2-Meter Rule when my disc got stuck, 20 feet up in a tree, on my second toss; I was able to retrieve the disc. On Hole 15, my disc got legs and rolled about 30 feet from the Hole after my midrange putt landed next to the pin. Raymond threw a good round. Ronald threw his typical +10.

The round was approximately 1 hour, 20 minutes. My Mamba isn't broken in yet and is flying stable to overstable; I spent some time in the trees after driving with my Mamba. I didn't play very well today. On Hole 17, my disc found some water in the creek after my second toss hit a tree. Ronald was able to find it by wading into the creek. Searching for the disc took about 10 minutes. Raymond threw a good round. Ronald threw his typical +10.

The round was approximately 1 hour, 10 minutes. I used my new Mamba with an anhyzer tilt on at least three holes and used my Roadrunner with an anhyzer tilt on at least two holes. Neither really flexed very well so I will keep practicing with them. I used my other drivers on the first throw of Hole 11, Hole 12, and Hole 18. On Hole 16, I threw into the woods on my drive and it didn't get much better after that. My second and third shots hit trees as I was trying to throw through the woods. I ended with a double bogey. Otherwise, my approach shots were good. I also putted well within the circle. Raymond threw a good round. Ronald started out throwing very well with some excellent drives. The round was approximately 1 hour, 10 minutes. I used my Roadrunner with an anhyzer tilt on at least five holes with moderate success. I found that if my arm angle was too high when I reached back before release, the disc would pop up and fly too high. I made an adjustment and started the disc below my right shoulder instead of at my right shoulder. This worked. I used my other drivers on the first throw of Hole 11, Hole 12, and Hole 18. My approach shots were good so I did not have to putt very far from the pin on most Holes. On putts of any length within the circle, I was average. Raymond had few double bogeys on the front nine but played even on the back nine. Ronald had a decent round.

It cost me a couple of strokes when the discs slipped out of my hand on some drives, including, again, on Hole 18 where I made bogey. I did not putt well at all, inside or outside the circle - I missed a bunny for par Hole 14. Raymond started off well but he let up when it was clear that Ronald and I were having a bad round. Ronald is still playing with a stationary stance on his drives. Both Raymond and Ronald went swimming to recover a disc Raymond had lost in the creek yesterday. Played a morning twosome; We all played regular. It was sunny, warm and humid, starting at 72 degrees. Ronald was +8, after playing a round just before our round. I was +5. I threw a flex, Roadrunner on some of my drives with mixed results. I had a long drive on Hole 3, but threw it too high on my drive of Hole 11. I turned it over on my second shot of Hole 11, that left me short of the hole and in the trees. The discs were a little slick from the morning dew. It cost me a couple of strokes when the discs slipped out of my hand on some drives, including on Hole 18 where I made double bogey. I made a putt outside the circle for birdie on Hole 1. But I missed a bunny for par Hole 4. I putted well within the circle, otherwise. Ronald played a solid round but was still handicapped by a stationary stance on his drives. - He needs to use a drop step/cross step instead of a hop in his approach to his drives. It would alleviate some of the stress on his knee and foot that causes some of his pain. - He also again watched a few putts roll 20 feet away after hitting the pin.

Played a morning foursome: We all played regular. It was sunny and cool, starting at 62 degrees. Raymond was even. Ronald was +12. Rodney was even. I was +4. The round was approximately 1 hour, 20 minutes. I took my new Roadrunner to the driving range/field and it still flew pretty stable. So I made an adjustment and threw it with an anhyzer tilt. It still did not turn over, but flew with just enough S (I'm left handed) that I got another 50 feet of distance out my throws. I also weighed my friend's Roadrunner that I had tested and it was only 2 grams lighter than my disc. So I am going to stick with the disc that I have for the time being. I used my Roadrunner with an anhyzer tilt on at least five holes with good success. I used my other drivers on the first throw of Hole 11, Hole 12, and Hole 18. I missed a bunny for birdie on Hole 8 or 9. But I made a 70 foot toss for birdie on Hole 16. I putted well within the circle, otherwise. Raymond played a good round. Ronald struggled in all facets of his game. He watched a few putts roll 20 feet away after hitting the pin. He has been consistent between +10 and +13 the past few rounds. Rodney putts well. He spent most of the Front 9 scrambling for par but ended up even for the round.

Played a morning fivesome: We all played regular. It was initially foggy with the sun peeking through at the end of the round - 67 to 74 degrees and humid. Raymond was +6. Ronald was +12. Donald was +16. Hudson was +32. I was +11. The round was approximately 1 hour, 40 minutes. My new Roadrunner is still not responding very well, flying stable. I will take it to the driving range/field and throw it there. If I don't see any improvement I will get a lighter Roadrunner. I used my driver three times, on the first throw of Hole 11, Hole 12, and Hole 18. I had two layup putts that dropped underneath the pin and then got legs: I was left down the hill and outside the circle on one putt. Later, I missed a bunny, that gave me a bogey. Raymond played a casual round at +6. Ronald had a few bad holes with double bogeys, but played well for not having an extra disc or mulligan to throw. Donald looked like he was beginning to get the hang of it: he threw few decent drives; began to put some good spin on the disc; shaped a few shots; and kept himself out of the rough/trees. Hudson also showed some improvement.

The round was approximately 1 hour, 30 minutes. My new Roadrunner is not responding very well, flying stable to over stable throughout its flight path. Nor is it responding like the Roadrunner I tested before purchase. It is designed to fly under stable right after release and transition to stable as it slows. I had a similar experience with my Dart. However, the new Dart wanted to fly under stable rather than straight like the other Dart I used for three months. I will keep working on them. I may need to purchase a lighter Roadrunner to get more speed at release to get it to fly under stable. I only used my driver three times, on the first throw of Hole 11, Hole 12, and Hole 18. I had to use my driver to get over a fallen tree, lying across the fairway on Hole 18. I did not putt well within the circle, missing at least three putts of around 20 feet that would have saved par. We had notified the people at Shaver of some fallen trees. The Grounds People cleared the fallen tree that blocked one of the tee pads, but left the fallen tree that blocked the 18th Fairway. - We played around it -.

I played with my new Roadrunner and Nova discs along with my mid-range and other putter discs. I had not played in over two weeks and was a little rusty, especially on my putting. Again, I only used my driver twice, once on the first throw of Hole 11 and again on Hole 12. Raymond looked good. I struggled without my usual mulligan on every hole. We had storms yesterday afternoon and there were some more trees down. I don't know if it was from yesterdays storm but they should be cut and cleared as some of the downed trees were across fairways and tee pads. Granted some downed trees add to the character of the course, but one totally blocked the 18th Fairway up to about 12 feet high and another shortened the tee pad by a few feet, blocking any follow through when driving. We will try notify somebody from the City of the problem as they might not know.

California round
Played a late afternoon threesome: Raymond played regular; Ronald played best of two discs; and I played California style. Partly cloudy, 81 to 82 degrees, with a stiff breeze. Raymond was +5. Ronald was +2. I was +4. The round was 1 hour, 30 minutes. I played primarily with my mid-range and putter discs. This seemed to work better for me as I was a little short on my throws but able to keep my discs in the fairway. I only used my driver twice, once on the first throw of Hole 11 and again on Hole 12. I putted well within the circle. Raymond was +5 but I think he was taking it easy on us. Ronald played well on the back nine, posting a -1 to go with his +3 on the front nine. On the front nine, the wind caused his hyzer putting style significant trouble. The wind died down during the back nine.

California round
05/24 - Verified the posted length of the holes with lengths on the "Posted Layout on Classic - 2017". Lengths were OK. Will check Hole 5 again. Played a morning threesome: Raymond played regular; Ronald played best of two discs; and I played California style. Overcast, misty and 64 degrees. There was wet grass from overnight rains and the creeks had some water. Raymond was +1. Ronald was +3. I ended my round on Hole 16 for a Did Not Finish. I was at +8 at the time, looking at another bogey. The round was 1 hour, 40 minutes. Again, this course is too narrow for beginners. I tried throwing a shorter, straighter, mid-range disc, with moderate success. I putted average within the circle, when I had a chance. Raymond was -1 on the front nine and played the back nine even until the final hole, where he double bogeyed. He was driving and putting well. Ronald was even on the front nine and also double bogeyed the last hole.

California round
05/22 - I added a new course layout to the website to reflect the posted pars on the signs at each hole on the course. I will verify the length of each hole next time out and correct the lengths on the website. Played a morning foursome: Raymond played regular, Ronald played best of two discs, Cruise played best of two discs, and I played California style. Overcast, 70 degrees and muggy. There was wet grass from overnight rains but the creeks were empty. Raymond was even. Ronald was +2. I was +4. Cruise was +24 but this was his first time playing. The round was 2 hours, 5 minutes. This course has proved to be too narrow to get any length on my left hand, back hand drives. I am going have to throw a shorter, straighter, mid-range disc on some of my drives. Then throw a straight, long range disc that has late fade, to navigate some of the dog leg rights. I putted well within the circle. Raymond was -2 on the front nine. He was driving and putting well. He also had some fortuitous bounces of some trees on his drives. Ronald played best of two to compensate for throwing in a stationary position. Cruise played well for his first time out but he made over 160 throws today. He might be sore tomorrow.

Sertoma Field, Regular tees, 18 holes
California round
Played a morning twosome: Ronald played a pseudo California style; and I played California style. Sunny, ranging from 71 to 76 degrees in the shade. The Ronald was +8. I was +5. The round was 1 hour 15 minutes. Ronald's has been nursing a sore left knee. He has lost 30 to 50 feet in distance from all his long throws, including his drive, by throwing from a stationary position - no walking approach. The distance on my long throws has been in flux, as I have gotten stronger. On some of my bogey holes, I was again pulling my drives or leaving them short. The distance on some of my other drives and second shots was better than usual. I had to use different discs and throws than I typically use at Sertoma Field. I did not put well on long puts within the circle, missing some birdie and par opportunities.

Sertoma Field, Regular tees, 18 holes
California round
Played a threesome: Raymond played regular; Ronald and I played California style. Clear and sunny, ranging from 69 to 80 degrees in the shade. Raymond was even. Ronald was +9. I was +6. This was Ronald's first round at Sertoma Field California style, down from best of two discs. Ronald had to retrieve one of his discs from the creek at Hole 5 which delayed the round by approx. 45 minutes. On some of my bogey holes, I was pulling my drives, leaving me in the woods with poor second shot opportunities. I didn't fair much better when I used my mulligan on failed drives. Also, when my drives were good, they would sometimes be a little high. I saved some pars with long puts within the circle and some with my mulligan. Raymond was -2 on the front nine and struggled a bit on the back nine.

Sertoma Field, Regular tees, 18 holes
California round
Played a morning threesome: Raymond played regular; Ronald played best shot with two discs; and I played California style. It was sunny, ranging from 52 to 69 degrees, with wet grass from the morning dew. I tied the Ronald at +1. Raymond was +3. Ronald had one bad hole on hole 5 with a double bogey. Overall he putted well and should have scored much lower but had several rim shots and spit-outs. We didn't lose any discs to the creek.

Sertoma Field, Regular tees, 18 holes
California round
Played a morning threesome: Raymond played regular; Ronald played best shot with two discs; and I played California style. It was cloudy and comfortable, with a heavy mist and intermittent light rain - the grass was wet. Raymond was +3. I was +4. Ronald was +7. This was my first round after 5 weeks of recovery from an injury to my side. This was also my first round after adding a drop step on my drives. The drop step kept some of the twisting and torsional stress off my back and side and lengthened the distance of my drives. Also, this was my first round using my "Flow" and "Aviar" discs. The Flow disc added 20 feet and height to my drives while my Aviar disc was a good approach disc for Hole 12. Ronald lost a disc when it landed in the middle of the fairway on Hole 5 and rolled 30 feet sideways into the creek (found 5/17/05). He didn't play well throughout the round.

Shaver Recreation Center, Main course, Posted Layout on Classic - 2017, 18 holes
California round
Played a morning foursome: we all played California style. I didn't put well, requiring and missing with my mulligan on several holes. This course required longer drives than most of the courses I have played and I hurt my side trying to extend my drive on Hole 10.

The Claytons, Short pins, 18 holes
Played a midday twosome: Ronald played best of two discs; and I played best of two discs. It was sunny. We played the back nine short tees. The front nine was closed for construction. Ronald was +6. I was +5. Since we were beginners and short on our drives, we played from the pins on the short holes to the pins on the long holes (except for Hole 18). We called them par 3's. Ronald was +1. I was even.
