Is it true that the closest disc golf course to the Grand Canyon South Rim is in Flagstaff, AZ (67 miles away)? Does anyone know of any hidden gems or private courses that may be closer? Aug 1, 2015
Steve Brazel Aug 2, 2015Just throw 1/2 of your bag off of the south rim cliff and don't worry about it.
Derek Michalak Aug 3, 2015Since there isn't much between Flagstaff and the GC, except for indian reservations and people selling Turquoise you may be better off doing what Brazel said and just launch them to the bottom.
Robert Black Bart Aug 6, 2015"Heyman" the snowbowl is north of Flag; I'll be out there on 8-25 till 8-30 & i'm gonna play

I used these last year they were great, kept my feet warm and dry. If you're playing in the winter obviously you want something waterproof but after last year's polar vortex I found out you need something that keep your feet warm as well, standard Keen/Merrell disc golf shoes won't cut it your toes will be freezing. These will keep you a lot warmer, especially with good wool socks and they're pretty light and not all that bulky for being winter boots http://www.salomon.com/us/product/deemax-2-ts-wp.html

I got those at REI they should have them or a close variant/new model to try on. The tread on them is killer, mine didn't wear much at all after wearing them a lot last winter not just for disc golf but everyday boots
mark ellis Nov 14, 2014Worn, old, comfortable boots or hikers with sheet metal screws in the soles.
Darren Harper Nov 17, 2014I would suggest some practice first.. just kidding..
Jeff "Heyman" Schropp Nov 19, 2014thanks for the comments. I purchased a pair of Columbia bugaboots and a pair of Keen Targhee mids. I will definitely try the screws. I've seen others do this and looks like you get great traction.

http://www.rei.com/c/winter-traction-devices I would try this. Why damage the soles of expensive boots by drilling into them? Do you unscrew them when the ice melts? Or do your winter boots now just have screws in them permanently? Why not just pick something up that is removable?
Jeff "Heyman" Schropp Nov 19, 2014hi nick - i tried a pair of YakTrax, but they lasted about 3 weeks, then broke. maybe i will try th eothers, but i was going to take out the screws when not playing disc.
Nick Pacific Nov 19, 2014I'd recommend buying from REI. They are awesome about returns. Anything breaks, just take it back.

Beofre drilling screws into boots I tried everything else on the market. The chains break fast and slip off during rounds. The Stabilicers are heavy, bulky and dont stay on. Yes once you use screws the boots are only good for golfing or ice fishing. So use old boots. They are more comfortable anyway.

Every cart, every bag, every system has advantages and disadvantages. You need a good bag even if you have a good cart because some courses are not cart friendly no matter the cart. A major challenge with carts is to find one which fits in your car. Go Carts are nice but take a lot of space. Don't buy a cart until you try it out first.
Jay B Nov 6, 2014A well modified ball golf caddy cart works great with or without a bag depending on your preference

modify a jogging stroller. Mine took a total of 5 minutes to remove the seat and attach my bag, leaving the straps on so that my Fade weather flap covers everything when it's raining. Craigslist usually has many at reasonable prices. Keep an eye out and you may see one alongside the road awaiting the trash truck.
Fred Vocino Nov 6, 2014Bigger wheels, no need to put a bag in a cart, but keep a bag for courses with fallen branches, narrow paths or steep hills.
Chris Leo Nov 6, 2014You want to get a Delta Disc Golf cart. Easily the best out there hands down.
Douglas "Fresh" Watson Nov 6, 2014A couple quad copter drones could carry a bag I'm sure. Hover wherever you need it, stays off the dirt, could be used on hilly courses.
Jeff "Heyman" Schropp Nov 7, 2014Chris -- that Delta Disc Cart looks awesome, but all sold out!!
mark ellis Nov 8, 2014For $500 that Delta Cart should do more than just carry your discs.
Chris Leo Nov 8, 2014It is pricey I agree. Sorry Jeff I didn't realize that they were sold out. I've got to see one in person and they are pretty impressive.
Shaun Adkins Jun 8, 2014a local posted the same shop a minute after me on the Idlewild board. np
Steve Brazel Jun 8, 2014Your a pretty good player, just use a garbage can lid or pie tin.
Joe Levell Jun 8, 2014Jeff's prolly got a bunch of Frisbie pie tins from when he worked at the factory back in the day ---- waaayyyyy baackk inn the dayyy!!!
Ken Mango Jun 8, 2014How long are you in town Jeff? I'm in lexington which is about an hour south. Maybe I can get down there to get a round in with you. Andy Hughes is in town this week also.
Jeff "Heyman" Schropp Jun 9, 2014I leave Thursday. That would be awesome if we could hook-up tomorrow or Wednesday. I get out at 5-ish so maybe go throw after that?
