2021 Shore Acres Disc Golf League   April 19, 2021 at 11:07pm

Let's Get Ready to Rumble

Greetings disc golfers. After many months of planning and two weeks of preseason, we are ready for the official kickoff to the 2021 Shore Acres Disc Golf League (feel free to clap, cry, or give a hearty Hoo-ah). This will be our 12th year running a league at Shore Acres, and we plan for this to be the best year ever.

For all of you conspiracy theorists out there, we can assure you that it is a complete coincidence that the official league season begins this year on 4/20.

The forecast for tomorrow night is looking a bit on the chilly side, so hopefully you did not put away your long underwear yet for the season. Although the air temps may be cold, we are planning on warm hearts and hot scores.

We will be playing the yellow pin locations tomorrow night and for the next 6 weeks after tomorrow.

This year we have a record number of members, including new members. In order to get that many players through the course as smoothly and efficiently as possible in one night, there are a few things that we can all do to help. One thing that helps immensely is getting as many players started before both 4:00 and 5:00. Players can begin teeing off at 2:00 each week. CTP and long putt markers will be out on the course every week by that time. We aim to have the last group tee off at 6:00, but that is not always possible if it gets too backed up. If you are able to play earlier in the day, there are several advantages. (1) you will have a quicker round, (2) you are more likely to experience the thrill of writing your name on one of the CTP or LP markers, and (3) you will be doing your part to decrease backups later in the night. Please play in a group of four unless there are not four players available to play. We are even open to groups of five if it is a faster playing group. If you are out to the course and waiting for a friend to show up, we would also encourage you to join another group or invite another player to join you so that we don't end up with lots of people waiting and people not teeing off. One of the great things about playing in a league is meeting new people and making new friends. Disc golfers are cool people. Lastly, we want everyone to have a good time and do not want people rushing through the round, but please be aware of your personal and group speed of play and be conscious of not taking excessive time and being ready to throw when it is your turn.

Beginning tomorrow night, you will find CTP (closest to the pin) and LP (long putt) markers on the majority of holes. Markers with an orange flag are CTPs and those with a green flag are long putts. Please pay attention to the color of the flags and mark your shots accordingly.

CTP and LP winners will be posted each week and prizes can be claimed the following week. In addition to the weekly CTP and LPs, there are also prizes each week for the hot round (best score) and best adjusted score (best score after adjusting for handicap).

CTP and LP prizes are provided through the generosity of our league sponsors and disc exchange partners. The CTP and LP money shot awards are cash prizes that are included in the league budget. At the current time, the sponsors and disc exchange partners are as follows:

League Sponsors:
Ace Hardware
Big Lake Brewing
Crane's Pie Pantry
Cusack Music
Dunesview Party Store
Georgetown CRC Church
Sweet Spot Disc Golf

Disc Exchange Partners
Winstrom
Leprechaun Hollows
Blue Gill

Please thank these folks and support them with your business.

As tomorrow is the first week of the regular season, all scores will count toward the overall scoring race. Players will also have the opportunity to begin earning points based upon their adjusted score.
