Hey John, that’s a great question. We felt this allows players who are interested in playing sanctioned, rated rounds to compete in a tournament in the north Ga area, while still keeping all the usual traditions of the CSC that make it a fun tourney, such as ace pot, various types of ctps, big checks, and a throw-off competition to cap things off!

John, I do get that this thing has gone 19 years on unsanctioned play, so it's a bit of a change. I just don't want to see folks skip out or not enjoy it because of that, when all the usual elements of added side action are still available, as Jesse mentioned.

To follow up on what these guys have said, in past years part of why the tournament wasn’t sponsored was to maximize the ability to raise funds for meals on wheels. However now with the PDGA’s charity program, the cost of sanctioning the event is no longer a detriment to the charity. Also by being a sanctioned tournament, we have the ability to get insurance, required by the county to rent the course. With that being said, I hope that this tournament still has that laid back feel, while providing an awesome opportunity for those that seek the benefits of a sanctioned tournament.
