Throw Down the Mountain 8 (Weekend 3) - Official Update (3/16/2020)
After thoroughly considering and being able to meet all aspects and recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) regarding the spread of COVID-19, we have decided to move forward with Throw Down the Mountain 8 Weekend 3 (TDTM8). We will be making some changes to the event that address both public safety concerns and also some event financials. Through all of this we have been communicating with our players and the public via text messages, emails, Facebook and DGScene on updates and our course of action.
Responsibility of TDTM8
Should the CDC or PDGA change their current recommendations or local, state or federal officials announce their own restrictions, we will take further measures to meet those recommendations or cancel the event altogether. The DGPT is assessing Silver Series sanctioning at this time as well and reserves the right to remove the inclusion of the event in the Silver Series and DGPT point series.
Responsibility of the Players
We will utilize additional precautions (see below), but a vast majority of the precautions is based on individual player responsibilities; if players do not want to be exposed or players that are sick or currently have symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come. If players are in contact with those in the age/health categories that are most susceptible to COVID-19, please do not come. We fully trust people to make responsible decisions, as they have demonstrated so far, while also pursuing their happiness of playing competitive Disc Golf.
By implementing a few changes, we currently meet all of the suggestions of the CDC. We would also like to point out that the CDC has not defined what constitutes a gathering of more than 50 people (inside of how big of an area?) yet our players will not be gathered at any point in a group of more than 50.
Those changes are, but not limited to:
- Only players, caddies and staff are allowed on the near 70 acre property
- No spectators will be allowed on site
- Players are not allowed to arrive earlier than 30 minutes before their tee time
- Players must leave within 30 minutes of finishing their round
- No players meeting on site, limited awards ceremony
- One player to keep digital scores, one player to keep paper scorecard scores
- Social Distancing - We have a 2-Meter stick near Hole 1 to help visualize and demonstrate the CDC suggestion
- Hand washing elements - we will be supplying spray bottles with a hand cleaning solution throughout the property
PDGA Tier/Added Cash/DGPT Status/USDGC
TDTM8 will be run as a PDGA A Tier Event with $3500 Added Cash (we anticipate a pro field of approximately 106 players) and a Disc Golf Pro Tour Silver Series Event. TDTM8 is a USDGC Qualifier and will offer 5 spots into the event.
