When I saw the poke-n-hope criticism about Fallasburg I wondered; don't I play tournaments on relatively unfamiliar courses where there are holes that seem to defy expectations of a sporting chance at making par? While I have become accustomed to Fallasburg and my knee-jerk reaction to this criticism was defensive, I can imagine how a player with limited familiarity would stand on some tees and say, "none of various BH, FH, flex, flip, hyzer, anny shots I have will get me past this array of trees on to the fairway." As an advocate of the Garden-Park school of DG course design, I recognize the greater concern of "visiting" players when faced with holes where the "local's route" is the only viable one.
