A 5 buck PDGA fee is standard for any sanctioned AM tournament to cover the PDGA fees. It does not seem right to expect the TD to cover the cost, for players wanting the "tournment experience", but unwilling to sign up for a PDGA membership. There is a "community family fun round." for those not looking for competition. 3:30-5:00 pm, per the About section on this page. Seems like a great opportunity for folks being introduced to the sport.

Steve is right, when the pdga provides a sanction for an event there's things that come along with that. Those things come at a small cost per player, but it is standard for any PDGA Sanctioned event you attend. And the actual standard is $10 per non-PDGA member but they cut that cost in half for this event to as you said "grow the sport"
