Hello David, all non-PDGA members have to pay the $10 fee for every PDGA sanctioned event. It is really up to each individual to decide if they want to become a member ($50/year) or just pay the extra fee as they go. If you only plan to play 2-3 PDGA events a year then pay as you go might be best. If you plan to play 5 or more then the year membership is the way to go.
Bo Fought Sep 20, 2017Note: I believe if you become a PDGA member in October you get 3 months free (Oct, Nov, Dec 2017) on top of being a member for all of 2018.

Scott Sprow Sep 21, 2017if you go to pdga.com, when you click on the membership tab, there is info pertaining to joining.....it states Memberships received on or after Oct 1 are extended through the following year.
