Will GEN (MDSO-only) playing in pool B be competing against DHO 50+ age entrants playing in pool A, i.e. different layouts?

Yes, in the same age bracket. GEN plays an easier layout than Pool A, but GEN players are expected to be less-skilled, leveling the playing field somewhat.
