For the record (I am posting here b/c not sure how many would see the reply posts), my 9 year old has barely played. He can throw about 60 - 70 feet maybe. Once in a while he launches one (launch still meaning like 100 feet) but then we get all excited and try to replicate and his next shot might only go 30 feet. He can't putt if his life depended on it b/c he only just started learning.
He would be excited to have another 9 year old to play with, but my 9 year old will not be in competition mode I hope. I only want him to have fun. Karl, if your son were to help him out, he probably would listen to him more than me anyways and have the time of his life. Could care less if your kid beats mine by 100 shots. Only want him to have fun and get started in the sport.
Glad to hear there is no PDGA temp fee. Forecast stinks for Saturday, 100% chance of rain, but compared to this oppressive heat, that might be better anyways.
