Hello All,

As the hours wind down for people to file to be on the 2016 DFOK Officers position ballot, I decided to post an "Open Letter" regarding the topic.

I have enjoyed my time as the acting/interim President of the Disc Fanatics of Kansas. I am also looking forward to passing the torch to someone else, which I believe is long overdue.

Defining Official DFOK officer positions, then filling those positions has been discussed for a long, long time. Writing club By-Laws & obtaining non-profit status has also been suggested many times. I apologize to those of you who think this has taken too long... heck I even agree! I just didn't want to push something out there without a lot of people helping define the process. Thank you to all who have taken the time to help.

At this time, I do not plan to "run" for any Officer position. I decided to do this so everyone would clearly see my willingness to shake things up a little in hopes of making this a better club. No, it does NOT mean I am planning to “abandon ship” or never hold a DFOK office in the future.

Meanwhile, I plan to continue to work on some "DFOK Unfinished Business" that started during my tenure.
1. Continue to work on the Warner Park course completion project. Thanks to the efforts of multiple people (mainly Mr. LeCrone & Mr. Brenn) the club is finally starting to break through some political barriers on that front. Recent DFOK efforts are likely to result in the club being asked to co-host (with the City) a public meeting to discuss options with citizens. I hope to help with that process, and the following needs of that project.
2. Obtain regular updates on the progress of the River Pond project. I think all DFOK members deserve to have regular updates (from the project coordinators) on how our club donation of $500 on Oct. 2014 is being used. I also believe it is important we make sure that project gets "finished" in order to protect the reputation of our local disc golf community.
3. Continue to help work on any local disc golf courses. I am still willing to rotate baskets, work on building new courses and/or course expansion efforts. After all, this is a big part of why DFOK was created in the first place.

Sincerely,
Rick Petrie
