If you have not been to play Sparkman Park in a while, there have been a lot of recent changes to the course. The scrub brush under the trees on Holes 1 and 2 have been cleared and even opened up options on Hole 2 for throwing for lefties. With the Zombie run held in the middle of holes 4 and 5 the city started clearing out tons of underbrush. Almost all of the trees along the creek on 4, 5A and 5B are gone. (both sides of the creek) Never realized how close the creek was behind the short pin on 5.

Recently, the they have cleared out all the bushes and shrubs near the creek on Holes 3, 12, and 13. It looks like they have plans to clear out the remaining bushes on hole 11 in the creek.

Word is the city is going to put a lake and walking path on Holes 4 and 5 and could potentially require a new layout of the course. We played temp holes during the Bells Angels season finale that could become the future 18 and possibly remove the current 16, 17 and 18 from behind the baseball fields.

Either way the course is being cleaned up and looking great. The only real downside is the park is getting more and more events and parties in the shelters. Parking becomes a major issue with cars and trucks in the middle of the fairways.

Benches and new tee signs would be a great addition at some point in the future. Once the final changes are completed and renumbered, a welcome board or Disc Golf Course sign to include course map, basic rules of the game, local shops, and possibly a lost and found box would be nice. Lots of talk of the #7 hole becoming the new #1. A practice basket for putting would be a good addition as well. Willing to help out however I can, but not sure who will be the lead contact on this one. Is Josh Lenox still in charge of the course design and layout? Regards, Waders
