Thanks Todd. I indeed did send the following email: It has recently come to my attention, that consideration, as to the fate of the Mt Holiday disc golf course, is being discussed shortly. I would feel remiss if I did not take the opportunity to express my opinion. I am an avid disc golfer, playing for over three decades, living in the Metro Detroit area. My wife and I , in addition to several friends, make a habit of traveling throughout the country, playing disc golf as part of our vacations. Afforded the beauty and unrivaled natural wonder of our two peninsulas, those vacations are often u201cup northu201d here in Michigan. We have been making an annual trek up to Boyne Mountain around the 4th of July, and Crystal Mountain each fall, always making Carlyu2019s Playground a part of that trip each season. This course is indeed one of the primary reasons we decide to spend significant portions of our entertainment budget on these trips. I would like to think the money pumped into the local economy by us is substantial. I would like to urge any and all board members to consider keeping this u201cup northu201d gem in place. Mt Holiday certainly benefits from the positive reputation gained in the disc golf community. This course is discussed and talked about often in circles of disc golfers, even out of the immediate area. I understand that difficult decisions are often made, in the pursuit of the maintenance of profitability, in todayu2019s ever challenging economy. But, this course represents significantly more, to many, than a monetary endeavor. It is my hope that the board members and concerned entities feel the same way. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Here is the reply sent back to me: After a long debate and deliberation over the safety concerns of our insurance carrier and summer construction schedule, our board had decided not to renew the lease agreement with CJL Playground. This was not an easy decision as we have enjoyed hosting disc golf since 2003 and are sad to see it leave Mt. Holiday. However, the time has come for us to expand into other activities. We have enjoyed working with CJL Playground and wish them luck with their continued mission.
Sadly, our game is often sacrificed due to the inability or refusal to generate revenue to the land owners on which it resides. Carly's will be missed for it's excellent play and the important message it stood for. My continued prayers to the family and heartfelt thanks to those who assisted in getting the course into the ground to begin with. It was obviously a labor of love.

Glad I was able to play a few rounds on that course last summer. I remember one round being overcast and misty and made for some nice scenery around the woods. I'm from downstate where it's quite flat in comparison. This course was quite the hike though and the elevation changes were just so fun to experience after playing downstate pretty much my whole disc career. There are quite a few courses I play at that get vandalized and Carly's Playground seemed pristine and untouched in comparison which I thought was really nice. Maybe not quite as established/scenic as parts of Hickory Hills but I really enjoyed playing there and thought the layout was well done. Sad to see it go but hopeful the future will have better things in store.
When are they removing the course? I'll be in T.C. on the weekend of the 21st and I'd like to get in a goodbye round on the remaining holes if they'll still be there.
This sucks. The guy in charge says safety is their # priority. Yeah, right. Safety and ziplines go hand in hand. Sorry about this, Todd. I'm sure there is another park in the area where chasing the big $ takes a back seat to quality, healthy outdoor activities like disc golf.
Id be happy to write or call in support of the course but would they take into consideration the opinion of people who live downstate?
Start a petition maybe? Would that do anything?
Thats a shame. I hope you can, at least, get the baskets if it does happen.
Is the condition of the course still largely playable? We come up from the Detroit area every memorial weekend and we always play here.
Gotta save this course! I'm sure anyone who has played there would gladly help out in some way!
Any place to email, write a letter......
Info here Steve, http://mt-holiday.com/
They have decided to have the course removed. Ranked #8 in Michigan too.
:(

Booo, I've been wanting to play this course for a really long time, heard so many good things about it. Now I won't even get the chance to :(
