I think Mike has a point on a couple different levels. Many of the Masters plus contingent we see playing tournaments are located considerably North of this event and not always willing to make a couple hour drive to play an all day event. Some also may prefer a different type course. It begs the question of, outside of age protected divisioning, what do players look for and find attracts them to a tournament. Off the top of my head, I would say players pack, desired divisioning, proximity to home, style of course fitting my game, generalized course conditions (given the weather of the preceding weeks), reputation of TD and how the tournament fits into my life and tournament schedule (mother's day weekend). I am not saying that some, one or any of these are causing a slow sign up, but that they are considerations. I think support of an event like this is important to the region, thus my attendance.
