Rule Change - Double Points - How Cold?

The Double Point Rule for Cold rounds has been updated - If you play a league round and during that round the Fells Like temperature is 20 (Not 15) degrees F or less (Feels Like is with Wind Chill)- post the league name/date/lowest temp in the OrCPS Comments page and that round will be updated to Double Points for all who played. Reminder at the end of the season we will review the posted temps and the round that had the lowest temp will get Triple points.
Playing in 2" of snow or more will also earn you Double Points. Make sure if you play in snow to post the depth as we will also be awarding Triple points to the league that played in the deepest snow.

So get out and enjoy the wonderful Winter league play.

205 Total # of Rounds of League play (by Player)
3222 Total Points Awarded

So we all know that the Point Series just keeps your best two rounds per week(Sunday - Saturday) to try and balance those who can play often with those who are not so fortunate. This does have an impact on the points and where players end up on the leaderboard. One way to try and get insight to who are the other top players but who just can't seem to get out to maximize their round count and there by potentially maximizing/increasing their point total, is to look at Average Points per Round.

Erik Gyllenskog is a good example he has only 1 recorded round so far and earned 17 points. Even I can figure out his Average is 17 pts per round. Now that is pretty good. Actually it is enough to put him at the 18th spot overall for Average points per Round. Several 9 out of the top 20 have lower pt/round averages. Others that merit notice as potential movers and shakers of the future are:
Pos Name Pts Rnds Avg Pt/sRd
13th Zuro W 18 1 18
12th Steven Winslow 54 3 18
8th Rich ayers 20 1 20
7th Lucky . 60 3 20
4th Shaun Kirk 42 2 21
2nd James Beus 64 3 21.33333333

And with 3 rounds to his name and a Pts/Rnds Average of 23.33333333 has the number 1 spot on my Pts/Rnds Average Leaderboard. Now Brandon was rewarded for a cold TNT Tuesday Nights Glow round with Double Points. No Brandon is already in the Top 20 players of the leaderboard. But with the average Pts/Rnd for the top 20 being 6.2 you can see if he improved his 3 rounds to 6 at his current level of play he would jump up the leaderboard.

The Average Pts./Rnd for the top 10 is 7.8 rounds each.

Here are the Top 20 players in order of Pts/Rnd average. Nice play guys

Position Player Points Rounds Pts / Round Average
17 Brandon Skinner 70 3 23.33333333
21 James Beus 64 3 21.33333333
5 bryan van fleet 147 7 21
31 Shaun Kirk 42 2 21
2 THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS 185 9 20.55555556
1 Rick Saffeels 260 13 20
24 Lucky . 60 3 20
43 Rich ayers 20 1 20
6 Rafael "Dynomite" Guerrero 113 6 18.83333333
8 Jonathan Long 94 5 18.8
15 Adam Rud 73 4 18.25
28 Steven Winslow 54 3 18
44 Zuro W 18 1 18
11 RYAN ROWLEY 89 5 17.8
11 AGRO JACKSON 89 5 17.8
3 Ira B 154 9 17.11111111
19 Robbie Wheeling 68 4 17
45 Erik Gyllenskog 17 1 17
14 Daneger Jones 84 5 16.8
20 William Beus 66 4 16.5

Kevin Pearson is Just under the Average Rnd for the Top 10 but he secured his position currently at that 10th spot. Jonathan Long has the lowest # of rounds in the top 10 but a great round at CCDG Sunday Random Doubles taking 1st place and he also got Double Points at TNT - Tuesday Night Twilight (GLOW) to he pull him into the top 10 and currently tied with - scottishrob - at 8th place. - scottishrob - did not get those Glowing Double Points so he had to get two 1st place finishes at CCDG Sunday Random Doubles to collect his 94 points. Paul Petitt with 7 rounds, no Double Points but 2 1st place wins at CCDG Sunday Random Doubles to amass 104 and 7th place. I'm not sure how Luck Rafael "Dynomite" Guerrero is but besides his 1st place finish at Lucky lads and laddys, the reason he has 6th spot with only 6 rounds is that in addition to his 1st place round almost all his other rounds were 2nd or 3rd place finishes - Great consistent play "Dynomite". Do you have to be lucky to climb up the leaderboard, No just play more and be more consistently good. At the #5 spot we have with 7 rounds recorded
147 total points (5th overall) bryan van fleet. Now Bryan added another 1st place finish for a total of 3 and besides one 3rd place finish the rest are 2nd place finishes. Great consistent play Bryan. At 4th place we have Steve Jones with 2 1st place finishes at Lucky lads and laddys but upped his total rounds to 9 edging his point total up to 148. Not to be out done and with 9 rounds also is Ira B with 154 points and got those Double Points at TNT - Tuesday Night Twilight (GLOW) and securing the 3rd place spot currently. Can you get more points in the same number of Rounds - YES and if we take a few lessons from THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS, on how to maximize your point total, as even know he is in 2nd place he actually has a higher Points/Rounds average (0.55555556 higher) than the #1 spot. How - 4 1st place wins, 3 of them in a row (BLING) and a Winter Ace worth 25 extra Points (Hole 9 Jan 4 D.O.R.C.s (Day Of Rest Crew), Dallas City Park course). All he needs is a Double Point round or two and a few more rounds he would be utilizing all the methods for maximizing his point total. Yes with only 9 rounds he has left the door open for others to collect more points. Let's see - Yup Rick with almost the same Points/Round Average has 75 more points 13 rounds recorded, 260 total points (1st overall). Now if we look at the round stats I first see a Red Badge - 10x in a row Winner of TNT - Tuesday Night Twilight (GLOW) - This guy is explosive! ;-) I don't recall ever seeing this badge before..... 11 wins overall count for the Point Series, a Winter Ace (Hole 2 @ TNT - Tuesday Night Twilight (GLOW)
Cascades Gateway) and Double Points @ TNT - Tuesday Night Twilight (GLOW), with the most rounds of any player on the Leaderboard - Now that is how it is done. Can he keep it up for 7 more weeks. Can anyone beat him at TNT - Tuesday Night Twilight (GLOW)?
