Last Winter:

8 participating leagues
101 total players
14 week season

- TNT - Tuesday Night Twilight (GLOW)

No fee to play in this league - Still in affect.
More fun and awards for the league rounds you already are playing.

If you play in a Oregon League between Nov 23rd and Feb 28th make sure the league has been added to the OrCPS-Winter. Just send us a link to the League's About page and we will add it. There is no cost to the league, no extra effort by the league, leagues can use what ever system for points as the OrCPS calculates it's points independently. There still is a limitation that for handicapped leagues you must post the adjusted scores that are used for payouts. Hopefully one day soon we will have a new option for this but all of Santa's Elves are currently working on higher priority projects.

*************** Important date ****************
January 15th 2015 - deadline for adding new
leagues to the Winter Point Series.
***********************************************

Points now re-calculated and using 3 tier point calculation; 20 or less players in a round - 20 pts for first place and counts down - helps smaller leagues (smallest leagues: singles need min. 4 players, Doubles need 3 w/Cali). League rounds with 21 - 60 players - normal points calculation. Great than 60 players is capped at 60 pts - normally not a factor during the Winter season.

Dropped Rounds - I'm sure I will get several message about "Why is one of my Rounds listed as Dropped?" and for all you regulars you already know that the OrCPS uses your best two rounds per week (Sunday through the following Saturday) to try and balance things between those who can play many rounds and those who can only get out to one or two.

Monthly awards - Many of you have seen more Disc Golf Scene Bling in on your profile for Weekly and monthly achievements - Thanks Pete and Disc Golf Scene and the OrCPS. Congrats to all those who have achieved these awards. In January and February we will have some additional awards for some of these monthly achievements - more in a future post but keep playing and achieving. It all pays off in many ways.

So what is happening out in our leagues this winter and what does it take to be listed in the top Twenty of all the Winter Oregon Cooperative Point Series? Who will be State League Champion?

Ok back to what do you need to be in the top 20?

At week 4, at least 2 rounds with with at least 18.5 points/round or an Ace or two. But more rounds is always better.

Now to reach the top of the leaderboard by the end of the season what would you need to do, based on current trends? If Rick Saffeels trends hold true all 14 week, it is looking like you have to average about 19.3 points per round that count and probably around 24.5 rounds for the 14 week season.

Now Rick got to the top in style with 6 of the 7 rounds in 4 weeks, were wins and a Winter Ace in the first week - heck that was more like Fall play than Winter back in Nov ;-) Nice Ace Rick. Adding another 25 pts next to his name at the top of the Leaderboard.

You may recall I have said at least once or twice before that I kind of think playing more can really make a difference. Here is a good example as I look to 2nd place and beyond. I see a points gap. I know Rick hit the ace and got 25 pts but there is still a good point spread between him and the other top players. THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS - earning almost the same points per round but the additional 3 rounds over 4 weeks gave Rick the point advantage.

I feel an Ace comin on for THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS.

All in all lots of great golf out there. Steve Jones & Ira B in 3rd and 4th each with 5 rounds. Lucky . had three strong rounds for almost max points each round, for a higher Point per Round ratio but more rounds, 5 rounds versus 3, Yields Lucky #5.

If only I could get out for one more round.....

Great rounds guys. Going to be a fun Winter season.
